Job Summary

Responsibilities
  • Assists in coaching student athletes individually and in groups. Assists in the planning and execution of team practice sessions. Demonstrates course management drills and encourages supervision.
  • Assists in the scouting and recruiting of potential student athletes. Attends tournament sites to identify talent travels to tournaments to evaluate student athlete prospects and maintains written and telephone correspondence accordingly. All while maintaining compliance with NCAA Conference and institutional rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for administrative functions included but not limited to monitoring the purchase of uniforms equipment and supplies including accountability for expense control and administration of the sports budget. Requests cash advances for team travel from the Athletics Business Office and accounts for all expenditures by timely submitting receipts.
  • Monitors and maintains the discipline and conduct of student athletes to support the image and reputation of the program. This includes but is not limited to monitoring student athletes social networking websites.
  • Participates in public relations activities. Assists with planning and coordinating promotional and fund raising activities.
  • Performs other related duties and/or projects as assigned by Head Coach


Qualifications

Education Level:


Additional Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of coaching experience at the high school collegiate or professional level. Successful experience as a graduate student or intern is acceptable for the required experience.

Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelors degree from an accredited university in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of coaching experience at the high school level or above. Successful experience as a graduate student or intern is acceptable for up to one year of the required experience. Additional education and/or experience may be required for certain sports or for strength and conditioning coaches. Related coaching experience at the professional level can be substituted for the degree requirements.

Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree.

SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required not to exceed:
(a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
(b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree;
(c) Six years of direct experience for a masters degree;
(d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
(e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure certification or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.


Education Level:
Preferred Qualifications: At least one year coaching experience at the college/university level. Prior playing experience at the collegiate or professional level a plus.
