Hourly Rate: $ 16.50

Contract Term: 8-week term starting May 25 2026

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Eligibility Criteria:

The candidate must meet the criteria below to qualify for roles funded by Canada Summer Jobs.

  1. The candidate must be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
  2. The candidate must be a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada
  3. The candidate must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment

Who We Are:

Heritage Park is Canadas largest living history museum and offers visitors a chance to experience life in Western Canada from the 1860s to the early 1950s. The park features historical buildings costumed interpreters working antiques and various exhibits that provide insight into the regions past.


Job Overview:

The Bookings Clerk (Travel Trade Assistant) will assist with group bookings client communications and marketing initiatives. They help organize familiarization tours prepare promotional materials and support tradeshow participation. This role provides practical experience in tourism operations relationship management and event coordination.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct familiarization site tours and client meet-and-greets.
  • Assist with group tourism sales bookings and coordination.
  • Communicate with tour operator clients and internal departments regarding booking details.
  • Respond to client inquiries via telephone and email.
  • Maintain filing systems and databases for client relationship management and industry references.
  • Assist in creating marketing collateral and promotional materials.
  • Support payment collection and reconciliation processes.
  • Collect and organize data for specialized reports.
  • Liaise with Interpretation for scheduling volunteer tour guides.
  • Assist with preparation and follow-up for tourism tradeshows and industry events.
  • Occasionally act as a costumed greeter and tour guide.
  • Attend weekly meetings and record minutes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

  • Must meet the Canada Summer Jobs eligibility criteria.
  • Relevant coursework in travel trade or related fields is an asset
  • Previous experience with tourism sales and promotion industry events trade shows or tours is an asset
  • Familiarity with database management and reporting
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to client needs
  • Prior customer service experience is required
  • Strong skills with computer applications; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • High level of integrity and trustworthiness in handling confidential organizational information
  • Commitment to continuous learning and development
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills in a client-faced setting
  • All successful candidates who are over the age of 18 are required to complete a background check. Employment at Heritage Park is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory report prior to their contract start date.
Special Clothing and Equipment:
  • Appropriate costuming and safety equipment will be provided by Heritage Park; and
  • Footwear as designated by the Heritage Park Costume Department will be provided by the employee.

Special Working Conditions:

  • The position will be exposed to weather extremes and will work both indoors and outdoors; and
  • This position will require the incumbent to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time over uneven ground and requires work outdoors and in non-climate-controlled environments including exposure to heat and cold.

Hours of Work:

  • The standard hours for this position are 35 hours per week;
  • Occasional holiday evening and weekend work may be required
