The Senior Scientist serves as a lead scientist and analytical subject matter expert specializing in LCMS and HRMS systems. This role is responsible for independently operating and troubleshooting complex instrumentation developing and validating analytical methods and providing technical oversight for research and development projects. The position works cross-functionally to support complex studies communicates scientific concepts and results and ensures compliance with regulatory and quality standards. Additional responsibilities include maintaining laboratory equipment developing and reviewing SOPs preparing technical reports and client proposals and coordinating with vendors to resolve issues.
The incumbent will be expected to:
- Independently operate and troubleshoot LCMS and HRMS systems proving advance support for method performance instrumentation and study execution issues. Process and review analytical data from both scientific and regulatory perspectives.
- Lead the development optimization and validation of analytical methods and procedures including new LCMS methodologies. Provide technical oversight for research and development projects identifying requirements and implementing new approaches.
- Serve as lead scientist / analytical subject matter expert on complex studies working cross-functionally with stakeholders. Communicate scientific concepts and results through presentations reports and training sessions.
- Develop review and maintain SOPs and provide guidance on analytical procedures validation protocols study plans reports and investigations and audits.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of laboratories and equipment troubleshoot instrument issues and coordinate with vendors to resolve problems.
- Maintain accurate logs records and study notebooks in compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
- Prepare or assist in preparing client proposals protocols and reports requiring specialized scientific knowledge with minimal supervision.

Position Requirements
- Required
- Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry Biochemistry Biophysics Pharmaceutical Sciences or related scientific field with minimum 4 years relevant industry experience or Masters degree in a related scientific discipline with minimum 58 years relevant industry experience or Bachelors degree in a related scientific discipline with minimum 815 years relevant industry experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in LCMS operation troubleshoot and data interpretation including experience operating and maintaining laboratory instrumentation such as centrifuges spectrophotometers incubators balances pH meters HPLC systems and mass spectrometry systems required.
- Preferred
- Proficiency in a variety of computer software programs including MS Office
- Ability to work in a team laboratory environment with knowledge or familiarity with scientific terminology. Must understand basic techniques and equipment in the laboratory.
- Experience with a variety of techniques including (but not limited to) enzyme assays spectrophotometry and fluorimetry
- Experience with the proper use tracking and disposal of radioactive materials

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Role will be predominantly on-site laboratory-based work but with a requirement for extended periods of computer work for data analysis and reporting. While performing the duties of this job the employee may be required to: stand; walk sit stoop kneel crouch crawl speak hear/listen smell display manual dexterity reach with hand and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 1 pound and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- A full-time Monday through Friday workweek with general business hours. While performing the duties of this job frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials. The employee has potential for exposure to fumes airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals biohazards flammable liquids and risk of radiation. The employee is occasionally required to use equipment with moving mechanical parts with risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate at times the noise level can be louder and hearing protection may be required. The employee may work both in heat/cold wet/humid and dry/arid conditions.
- Occasionally required to work evenings weekends
- Daily contact with dry ice and liquid nitrogen vapor
- Contact with human biological specimens and sharps on a daily basis
- Regular handling of radioactive materials
- HepB vaccination is required (other vaccination or testing as recommended)
- Proof of immunization or waiver is acceptable
