• Assists patients through the triage process by collecting health data from patient referring caregivers and patient medical records.
• Performs routine duties and non-routine duties as directed by the nursing staff including admissions transfers discharges and transport of patients.
• Assists with the activities of daily living care of the patients to include but not limited to vital signs collection of specimens and other general nursing care procedures.
• Identify barriers (internal and external) of service recipient in participation of community resources and develop strategies to overcome those barriers. Referring individuals to appropriate professional resources when needed.
• Demonstrates effective communication skills to create a positive work environment. Maintains accurate and concise records.
• Assists in maintaining appropriate environment in the unit including cleaning procedures as directed.
• Works with individual patients in a 1-on-1 setting or in a group setting that is consistent with the nursing care needs of the patient and the inter-disciplinary treatment plan facilitating the transition from a professional directed service plan to a self-directed recovery plan.
• Assesses changes in patients condition/behavior and provides input to RN in creating and modifying the nursing care plan and assists with implementing therapeutic activities.
• Assists with patient programming and providing recovery education in every phase of recovery as well as being continually cognizant of the safety and welfare of all participants.
• Provides patient transport via agency vehicle as requested. Operates vehicle in a safe manner following traffic laws.

• High School or GED Equivalent
• Peer Specialist Certification - Certification Board within 2 Years
• Drivers License - Licensing Board Upon Hire
• Recovery from lived experience in substance use and/or co-occurring mental health disorders (self-attested)

• Bachelors
• EMR - South Dakota Board of Medical & Osteopathic Examiners (SDBMOE) Upon Hire
• Familiar with various EMS training techniques
• Medical terminology knowledge
