Open Door Health Services is seeking a full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in Muncie Indiana.
Overview
Open Door Health Services is seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide high-quality patient-centered behavioral health care across the lifespan. This role focuses on psychiatric assessment diagnosis medication management and collaboration within an integrated care team to support whole-person health.
As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Open Door Health Services delivers comprehensive medical and behavioral health services along with social support programs to individuals and families regardless of their ability to pay. Our patient population reflects diverse backgrounds life experiences and behavioral health needs.
This position works closely with primary care providers therapists and care teams to ensure coordinated accessible and effective mental health services.
Location
This position is located in Muncie a mid-sized city in East Central Indiana. Recognized as one of the most affordable college towns in the United States () Muncie boasts top-tier arts and culture entertainment recreation and education for all ages.

Roles and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
  • Cultural Competence: Commitment to ethical inclusive and patient-centered behavioral health care
  • Conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and risk assessments
  • Diagnosing and managing mental health conditions using evidence-based practices
  • Prescribing and managing psychotropic medications in accordance with guidelines
  • Collaborating with therapists primary care providers and care teams in an integrated model
  • Monitoring patient progress and adjusting treatment plans as needed
  • Providing education and support to patients and families regarding treatment plans
  • Coordinating referrals for higher levels of care (e.g. inpatient specialty services) when appropriate
  • Understanding of social determinants of health and their impact on behavioral health outcomes
  • Maintaining accurate timely and compliant clinical documentation (ICD standards)
  • Adherence to HIPAA and ethical practice standards
  • Participation in quality improvement initiatives and team-based care delivery
Qualifications
  • Active unencumbered Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Active Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license in the state of Indiana
  • National Board Certification in your specialty area as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
  • Federal DEA certification and Indiana CSR
  • Graduate degree (MSN or DNP) in a nurse practitioner specialty or post-masters certificate from and accredited program
Preferred
  • Experience in community health FQHC or integrated care settings
  • Experience working with diverse and underserved populations
  • Comfort managing a broad range of psychiatric conditions across age groups
Key Competencies
  • Strong psychiatric clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
  • Knowledge of psychopharmacology and treatment planning
    • Ability to proficiently prescribe and manage psychotropic medications monitor for side effects and ensure medication compliance
  • Crisis intervention assessment and management skills for high-risk situations (suicide risk/acute distress)
  • Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative care team
  • Active listening and communication: ability to build rapport and trust with patients families and interdisciplinary care team
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage complex patient needs in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHRs and telepsychiatry/health platforms)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills demonstrating ability to manage caseload and complete timely efficient documentation
  • Demonstrates Emotional Intelligence & Resilience by managing high stress environment while providing empathetic care
