  • Salary: Annually up to EUR 200000- (before taxes) plus excellent secondary benefits (see below)

The RIPE NCC is seeking a visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead its Technology division shaping strategy in alignment with the organisations mission.

The CTO as part of the Executive Team drives strategic change while overseeing infrastructure digital services security and innovation and delivering effective technology operations within budget. The role involves guiding and developing a team of 65 professionals including senior managers and driving collaboration on global technology initiatives. The position also includes representing the organisation externally and actively engaging with stakeholders and the Internet community on technology strategy and its impact.

The ideal candidate combines strong leadership stakeholder engagement and communication skills with up-to-date expertise in sustainable IT software development and operational efficiency along with proven experience managing large teams in a dynamic international environment.

Core responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the technology strategy that supports organisational objectives and enhances impact of the services.

    • Collaboration and Partnership with the business side.

  • Monitor and report Technology performance risks and investment results to the CEO and RIPE NCC Board.

  • Implement a technology roadmap that supports the business needs and operational efficiency.

  • Oversee development maintenance and security of IT infrastructure including systems platforms and networks.

  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and data protection policies.

  • Oversee Product Management and Development

  • Establish technology policies and standards that align with ethical and inclusive principles.

  • Ensure Technology expenses are in line with the budget.

  • Drive innovation in both Technology and company wide.

  • Ensure proper Risk Management and Compliance.

  • Ensure effective stakeholder communication in collaboration with relevant departments and other RIRs.

  • Represent the RIPE NCC Technology division at external community events.

  • Identify emerging trends in Internet technology and assess their relevance to the organisations mission.

Job requirements

What we expect from you:

  • Ten years experience in a leadership role in a complex multicultural environment.

  • At least a Masters degree in a relevant area.

  • Proven industry knowledge and relevant experience.

The Team - Technology Area

Our international team of 65 experts power some of the RIPE NCCs most critical services - from maintaining a resilient and secure Regional Internet Registry to strengthening Internet routing security delivering measurement services operating the DNS K-Root Server and ensuring our internal infrastructure is modern secure and future-ready.

At the forefront of Internet development we use technology both to provide valuable insights to our members and to keep our systems and operations robust reliable and ready for whats next.
