About the role
Responsible for preparing all event documentation and coordinates with Sales propertydepartmentsand customer to ensure consistenthigh levelservice throughout pre-event event and post-event phases of property position primarily handles events of average complexity. Ensures their property events have a seamless turnover from sales to service back to to maximize revenue opportunities by up-selling and offering enhancements to create outstanding to maximize revenue by up-selling and offering enhancements to create outstanding events. Supports and acts on behalf of the Director of Event Management or Director of Event Planning and Operations in his/her absence. Serves as the event planners primary contact (following turnover) on property andis responsible forhis/her experience.
Critical responsibilities:
Executing Event Operations
- Adheres to all standards policies and procedures (PPM Core Deliverables SOPs LSOPs etc.).
- Celebrates successes andpublicly recognizesthe contributions of team members.
- Ensures associates understand expectations and parameters.
Executing the Sales and Marketing Strategy
- Up-sells products and services throughout the event process.
- Participates in customer site inspections andassistswith the sales process when necessary.
- Acts asliaisonbetween fieldsales personand customer throughout the event process (pre-event event post-event).
- Assist the DOSM with all group sales activities including hosting Site Inspections
Under direction from Senior Sales Managersaddressclient queries/RFP withinsameday of receipt ensure full qualification of lead is actioned followed by immediate quotes should besentsame business day if possible.
- Be a champion for MI LEADS administration by providing effective administrative support to Senior Sales Managers to ensure all periodic targets are met & to ensure overall annual MI LEADS KPI is referral business where possible and embrace the culture for MI LEADS.
- Maintain regular contact with the Global Sales Office (GSO) offices whereappropriate submitsales leads within the Marriott International network.
Managing Profitability
- Forecasts group sleeping rooms and event revenue (catering and audio-visual)
Providing Exceptional Customer Service
- Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
- Handles guest problems and complaints.
- Participate actively in the regular communication activities to keep departments informed and to foster excellent two-way communication between Sales & C&E.
- Ensurefilescorrespondenceand other relevant business documentation aremaintainedand filed accordingly.
- Participate in site inspection program look for continuous improvement to drive a better conversion of inspections.
- Participate in the Quality Track mystery call program with theobjectiveof exceeding the hotel performance goal
- Update sales presentations for all communication needs
- Record telephone messages and attend to callers where appropriate
- Maintain and update all client information
- Represent the Sales Team on internal committees as requested
- Anticipate guests needs through observation and offer prompt efficient service either personally or through effective communication with other associates.
- Ensure compliance with the hotels grooming and uniform standards
- Demonstrate clear behaviors and management style that align to the Marriott International Core values
- Proactively promote a positive culture which is in line with Marriott Internationals core values.
- Empowers associates to provide excellent customer service.
- Strives to improve service performance.
- Sets a positive example for guest relations.
- Reviews comment cards and guest satisfaction results with associates.
- Coordinates and communicates verbally and in writing with customer (internal and external)regardingevent details.
Successful Candidates will have:
- High school diploma or GED; minimal experience in the tourism / event or related professional area.
- OR
- 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management Hospitality Business Administration or related major; no work experiencerequired.
