At a time when philanthropic support has never been more important to public media KQED is launching a major campaign to ensure the sustainability vitality and independence of news information and storytelling. The Campaign Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and execution of KQEDs major fundraising campaign. This role serves as the central coordinating function across Development Communications Finance and executive leadership to ensure the campaign progresses on schedule and meets key milestones.

The Campaign Manager drives project management reporting internal alignment and volunteer coordination ensuring that all campaign activities are executed with precision and consistency.

This role will work hybrid between working in KQEDs newly renovated headquarters and working remotely.

Key Responsibilities

Campaign Planning & Execution

  • Manage and monitor progress on the campaign work plan including timelines milestones and deliverables across all phases (pacesetting phase major gifts phase and public phase).
  • Maintain the master campaign calendar aligning solicitations communications events and reporting deadlines.
  • Translate campaign strategy into clear operational plans in partnership with campaign leadership.

Project Management & Coordination

  • Lead weekly campaign meetings to track progress and ensure accountability.
  • Coordinate cross-functional work across Major Gifts Stewardship Communications Finance and Operations.
  • Maintain project tracking systems (project management dashboards etc.) to monitor deliverables and timelines.
  • Identify risks or delays and escalate appropriately.

Campaign Reporting & Data Management

  • Partner with Development Operations to maintain accurate campaign dashboards and reports.
  • Track progress toward goal and metrics including cultivation steps solicitations and closed gifts.
  • Produce ongoing regular progress reports for senior leadership Campaign Co-Chairs and other volunteers and Board of Directors.
  • Ensure all campaign activity is documented in the CRM.

Volunteer Leadership Management

  • At the direction of the Vice President Philanthropy liaise with and support the Campaign Co-Chairs and other volunteer leadership including the Development Committee of the Board and KQED executive management.
  • Prepare Campaign-related meeting materials agendas and follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate volunteer assignments for donor outreach and campaign advocacy.
  • Support Campaign Co-Chairs and executive leadership in donor engagement preparation.

Communications & Campaign Alignment

  • Partner with other colleagues including the Communications team to ensure alignment of campaign messaging materials and timelines.
  • Track development and delivery of campaign collateral (case for support one-pagers reports digital content) and presentation decks
  • Support internal communications to keep staff and stakeholders informed of campaign progress.

Budget & Financial Coordination

  • Monitor campaign expenses in collaboration with Finance and Development Operations.
  • Track pledge schedules and ensure alignment between Development and Finance records.
  • Support budget forecasting and expense tracking across the campaign lifecycle.

Vendor & Staff Coordination

  • Supervision of one employee the Campaign Coordinator.
  • Coordinate work of campaign staff including coordinators and analysts.
  • Manage external vendors (consultants creative agencies) to ensure deliverables are met on time and within scope.

Qualifications -

  • 58 years of experience in nonprofit development campaign management or complex project management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-stakeholder initiatives with competing priorities.
  • Strong proficiency with CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce Raisers Edge ROI).
  • Excellent organizational analytical and communication skills.
  • Experience supporting or managing a major capital raise ($50M).
  • Familiarity with major gift fundraising and donor pipeline management.
  • Experience working with boards high-level volunteers and committees.

Note: This is a Full Time Temporary (through December 31 2029) position.

Expectation is 3 days per week in the San Francisco Mission District offices 2 days per week work remote if desired. Evenings and weekends will be required on occasion.
