Job Summary

Position Summary
* This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. * The Assistant Dean of Students for Case Management is an integral member of the Student Care and Case Management area of the Dean of Students ( DOS ) team. They are a resource advocate and liaison for Carolina students faculty staff parents/families and community partners that support and contribute to student resilience and success at Carolina. This position serves as the lead case manager for the Student Care Team (the multi-disciplinary team that assesses student of concern referrals and coordinates assistance and support for students exhibiting concerning behaviors) and may serve as the designee for the Associate Dean chairing the team in their absence. This position is highly collaborative and plays a lead role in nonclinical student case management developing and implementing both long- and short-term response plans to address a wide range of student experiences and concerns. Examples include but are not limited to basic needs insecurity (i.e. housing food etc.) physical and mental health adjustment concerns student safety academic personal/family crisis and integration into campus life. The Assistant Dean of Students for Case Management also leads specific department initiatives and associated assessment efforts related to the ongoing development and maintenance of comprehensive resources including referral agencies offices departments individuals and other relevant resources for students. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Students and works collaboratively with on- and off-campus colleagues and partners and other members of the Dean of Students team to support and implement the programs and services within the entire portfolio. This position serves as a member of the Critical Incident Response Team ( CIRT ) the Student Affairs on-call student crisis/emergency team and may support campus high interest events and pan-university emergency response needs. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Students is designated as a Campus Security Authority and Responsible Employee and must work collaboratively with other members of the Dean of Students team as well as on- and off-campus colleagues and partners.

Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
* Demonstrated leadership experience and effectiveness in cultivating care for students instructors staff and community partners who reflect the varied identities that exist in the university environment. * Experience effectively assisting and/or supporting a large and diverse case load of individuals who are involved in or impacted by personal crisis mental health concerns trauma and other disruptive/disturbing life events (e.g. 1-1 meetings making referrals service coordination) with great care and sensitivity. * Knowledge of current research trends and best practices related to non-clinical case management programs and services. * Experience developing implementing and assessing effective programs and services. * Experience working autonomously and as an effective member of a collaborative and fast-paced team. * Experience effectively prioritizing and navigating complex emergent situations and adapting easily to changing priorities based on emergent needs. * Experience managing confidential and sensitive information and situations with diplomacy and demonstration of excellent critical thinking and sound judgement. * Experience with the application of federal state and local laws policies and/or regulations. * Understanding of the environment and culture of a highly selective competitive research University with the ability to work collaboratively with on and off-campus partners including faculty. * Availability/flexibility to work some evenings and weekends. * Valid NC Drivers License or eligibility to hold a valid NC Drivers License.

Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Position relevant masters degree post-bachelors professional degree or foreign degree equivalent and five years of full-time relevant professional experience obtained post-graduate/professional degree attainment; two years in a related graduate assistantship is equal for one professional year. * Direct professional experience in non-clinical case management in a post-secondary higher education setting. * Demonstrated experience and skills in implementing effective programs services and systems that assist and/or support a large and diverse caseload individuals who are involved in or impacted by personal crisis mental health concerns trauma or other disruptive/disturbing life events with great care and sensitivity; 24 hour on-call experience is notable. * Experience participating as a member of multi-disciplinary crisis care and/or behavior intervention teams. * Excellent communicator (written and verbal) with experience delivering information to diverse constituencies in individual as well as small and large group settings using multiple formats (e.g. in-person telephone virtual/video). * Knowledge of and applied experience related to non-clinical case management student development adult learners first generation college students transfer students and/or crisis response * Experience building and sustaining relationships with a diverse population of students faculty staff parents / families and community partners to address a wide array of situations and needs. * Experience with the application of federal state and local laws policies and/or regulations specifically FERPA Title IX HIPPA Clery VAWA and others that are similar and apply to higher education. * Knowledge and experience maximizing the use of non-clinical case management software; experience with Advocate by Symplicity is a plus. * Experience developing and implementing operational and service-based assessments/evaluations and using data to inform practice and/or policy.
