Job Description
TheAssociateDirectorof International Policywill support the development of policy positionson emerginghealthissuesandcoordinateengagement strategieswithinternationalorganizationsonglobal healthissuesthat will contributetoand leadcross-functionalworking groups toaddress criticalhealth securitypolicyissuesrelated tointernational trade Artificial Intelligence (AI) dataprivacyregulatoryaffairsandresponsible business including environmental social and governance(ESG)policies.
TheAssociateDirector will also supportsenior leadership engagement inglobalhealthassociations including theInternational Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations(IFPMA)
theBiopharmaceutical CEO Roundtable (BCR) and the Gates CEO Roundtable.
TheAssociateDirectorrolerequiresa collaborativemindsetand the abilitytobuild trust and alignment across dispersed teams anddiverse role willdemonstrateimpact by helping shape and advance policies that expand access to Gileads medicines enable successful global launches and support Gileads business model. Core Responsibilities
Asamember of the International Policy team theAssociateDirector will:
Supportthe development and advancement of Gileadspriorities and positions oninternational trade AIdata privacy regulatoryaffairsresponsible business and other emerging policy issues.
Represent Gileadinindustryassociationsby staffing relevant committees and contributing to executive briefings for globalhealthindustry associations such as the IFPMA the Biopharmaceutical CEO Roundtable (BCR) and the Gates CEO Roundtable.
Engage with internal stakeholders to align on high-priority globalhealthpolicies and coordinate outreach to global health organizations to advance Gileads policyobjectives.
Ensure rapid communication with all members of GA on global health policy issues as they relate tointernationalorganizations that have a direct impact on their markets.
Support adaptation of relevant health policy positions for country-level advocacy needs.
Ensure inclusion of Gilead priorities in industry advocacy and government proposals informed by subject matter experts.
Conductpolicy analysis andpresenttimelyrecommendationsto support external engagement withinternational organizationstopromote healthcare fundingandappropriate accessforGilead medicines.
Work with cross-functionalinternalpartnersto helpdevelop policy strategies with global health organizations to support product launches.
Partner with internal stakeholdersto drive Gileadscorporateresponsible businesspositionandensure alignment with Gilead policy priorities and engagement with national or above-country industryassociations.
Coordinate with GA teams to build advocacy strategy and coordinate outreach to multilateral regional offices.
Monitor andmaintaina calendar of relevantglobal health organizationevents sideeventsand policy-related opportunities for engagement.
Partner with Public Affairsand affiliatesto supportGileadthought leadership efforts related toglobal healthpolicy issues.
Minimum Required Education and Years of Experience
Bachelors Degree and Ten Years Experience OR
Masters Degree and Eight Years Experience OR
PhD and Two Years
Experience & Qualifications
Bachelors degree and minimum10years professional experience in governmentaffairs healthcare policy or global health role. Experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries preferred.
Minimum5 years professional experience in aninternationalintergovernmentalor multilateral organizationor in a role requiring substantial engagementwith global health organizations
Understanding ofpharmaceutical business model and related policy issues
Expert knowledge of global health issuesandkey global health stakeholders
Strong network of contacts across global health organizations
Ability to apply sound judgment communicate effectively think creatively and work as an integral member of a complex matrixed and multinational organization
Experience building andmaintainingcollaborativeworkingrelationshipswithinternal and externalstakeholdersin afast-movingpolicy environment
Experience working with trade associations and supporting executives
Ability totravel to domestic and international locations as needed

The salary range for this position is:
Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation including experience qualifications and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role) paid time off and a benefits package.
