NHW is the major regional health service and specialist referral facility for Northeast Victoria. It serves a population of approximately 102000 performs over 6500 procedures a year and has over 19000 inpatient episodes and 30000 Emergency Department attendances a year and approximately 700 births per year. We have onsite radiology pathology and blood bank service. NHW provides a wide range of acute specialist medical and surgical services an emergency department critical care unit (ICU HDU CCU) obstetrics and gynaecology paediatrics specialised aged care medical oncology services community rehabilitation inpatient community aged and psycho-geriatric mental health services.
The Medical Lead Innovation and Models of Care is a senior medical leadership position embedded within operational services responsible for driving forward-thinking system-wide improvements in how care is delivered. This role plays a critical part in shaping and implementing innovative models of care that enhance patient flow improve access and ensure consistency across care pathways within NHW and its partner services.
Working across the Emergency Department acute sub-acute community and primary care interfaces the Medical Lead will design implement and embed contemporary models of care that reduce delays and unwarranted variation. A strong focus of the role is to improve timely access to services while strengthening clinical engagement across NHW outlying hospitals community health providers and general practitioners.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in enhancing both patient and staff experience by fostering a culture of collaboration innovation and continuous improvement. They will contribute to whole-of-system solutions that address demand and capacity challenges ensuring sustainable high-quality care delivery across the health network.
