Job Description

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for leading shift-based execution of maintenance and facilities operations within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. This role ensures safe compliant and reliable operation of site utilities equipment and infrastructure through effective supervision of personnel prioritization of work and adherence to quality and regulatory requirements.

The Supervisor drives execution of preventive and corrective maintenance supports inspection readiness and ensures timely completion of work in alignment with production demands and site priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Maintenance Execution

  • Lead daily maintenance activities including preventive corrective and emergency work
  • Prioritize and dispatch work to ensure minimal impact to production and critical utilities
  • Ensure timely completion of work orders and PMs in the CMMS (SAP) with high data integrity
  • Monitor and drive key performance indicators:
    • PM compliance (% on-time completion)
    • Work order closure rates
    • Maintenance backlog (weeks of work)
    • Equipment downtime / reliability impacts
  • Perform routine field presence (floor leadership) to ensure work quality safety and adherence to procedures

GMP Compliance & Inspection Readiness

  • Ensure all work is executed in compliance with GMP OSHA safety procedures and environmental standards
  • Own quality documentation execution at the shift level including:
    • Deviations
    • Change controls (as applicable)
    • Maintenance documentation and logbooks
  • Maintain facilities in an inspection-ready state at all times
  • Support internal and external regulatory inspections by providing documentation and technical support

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of facilities technicians (approx. 1015 direct reports)
  • Set daily priorities manage shift execution and ensure effective workload distribution
  • Conduct performance management coaching and development planning
  • Ensure team training compliance and technical competency progression
  • Reinforce a culture of safety accountability and continuous improvement

Planning & Coordination

  • Coordinate maintenance activities with production and cross-functional teams
  • Adjust schedules dynamically based on operational priorities and emergent issues
  • Identify and escalate resource constraints risks and operational gaps
  • Support planning efforts by providing feedback on job plans PM effectiveness and labor utilization

Contractor & Vendor Oversight

  • Coordinate and supervise contractors performing maintenance or project work
  • Ensure contractor compliance with site safety GMP and permit requirements
  • Support procurement of spare parts and services to maintain operational continuity

Facilities Systems Oversight

  • Support reliable operation of critical utilities systems including but not limited to:
    • HVAC systems
    • Clean utilities (WFI clean steam compressed gases)
    • Electrical distribution
    • Building management systems (BMS)
  • Ensure rapid response and escalation for system failures or abnormal conditions

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement improvements to maintenance processes PM programs and workflow efficiency
  • Participate in root cause investigations and problem-solving activities
  • Drive reduction in reactive maintenance and improvement in asset reliability

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 510 years of facilities/maintenance experience in an industrial or GMP-regulated environment
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience in a multi-shift operation
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Mechanical and electrical systems
    • Industrial utilities
    • CMMS systems (SAP preferred)
  • Experience with GMP documentation and regulatory expectations
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings procedures and specifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in pharmaceutical biotech or regulated manufacturing
  • Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) or predictive maintenance technologies
  • Experience supporting audits and regulatory inspections

Working Conditions

  • Shift-based role 2nd shift is from 2pm-10:30pm
  • Combination of office and field-based work in industrial and GMP environments
