Description: The District Office Receptionist serves as a first contact for the community district and school personnel parents and students. He/she performs a variety of services related to personnel and school and/or district procedures and functions.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required
Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
Previous office experience in an educational organization is desired
Must have extensive knowledge of technology including computers (Word Excel) metered postage systems copiers fax machines and other applicable office equipment
Knowledge of the English language including reading writing and oral communication
Knowledge of Spanish including reading writing and oral communication is preferred
Knowledge of arithmetic and basic mathematic procedures
Ability to comprehend and perform functions from oral and written instructions
Ability to organize and maintain various types of filing systems
Strong communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with others
Must be an energetic highly ethical and possess good emotional and physical health
Bilingual is preferred
Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Governing Board or the Superintendent may deem appropriate
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide a positive district image for all visitors and personnel who desire information and/or services
Operate the telephone system by giving information answering questions taking messages and transferring all incoming and interoffice calls to appropriate person(s)
Provide general clerical services for the Human Resources Department and other district departments as needed including alphabetizing collating and/or filing paperwork
Maintain Fair Labor postings at district administration facility
Assist potential employees with application process
Prepare and administer ID badges and time clock designations for new employees (non-certificated)
Create and maintain an alphabetical file on all certified and classified applications received in the district
Receive and sort all incoming mail and process metered mail
Compute cost and weight for bulk mailings and determine proper postage for outgoing mail
Prepare end-of-month statements of postage charges for schools and departments
Participate in district sponsored professional development workshops/inservices attend on-going training classes as directed and read professional publications for continued professional development
Maintain strict confidentiality and use appropriate discretion when working with all district personnel and student and family records and/or information
Support and follow the rules regulations and policies set by the School Board and the District
Performs all other duties as assigned by the Governing School Board the Human Resources Coordinator or his/her designee
Length of Employment:
Twelve (12) months
Reports to: Human Resource Director
Evaluation: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy GDO
