Job Summary
WDAF-TV/FOX4 Kansas City is seeking a Reporter for Morning News. The reporter presents news stories and other content for all platforms in a manner that is clear engaging and meaningful to news consumers. This role places a premium on delivering dynamic live reports over a wide range of topics.
o Produce content for multiple platforms including TV digital and streaming
o Work with management to enterprise and develop stories daily
o Demonstrate compelling storytelling using dynamic live shots and stand-ups creative graphics and use of digital and social media platforms
o Organize material determine angle or emphasis and write story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards
o Gather and verify information regarding stories through interviews observation and research
o Build network of sources who supply information that allows FOX4 to stay ahead of its competitors
o Demonstrate versatility and show range from breaking and hard news to community-focused features
o Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills:
o Bachelors degree in Communication/Journalism or related degree required (equivalent years of experience may substitute for education)
o Two years of experience as a reporter or MMJ
o Dynamic on-camera presence quality vocal delivery and clear enunciation
o Excellent reading writing spelling grammar and organizational skills
o Promote teamwork and maintain an attitude of cooperation with all station personnel
o Operate newsroom computer systems
