Job Description

• Manage civil litigation defense matters from initial pleadings through resolution.
• Draft pleadings motions discovery legal memoranda case evaluations status reports and settlement-related materials.
• Prepare and respond to written discovery review client documents and analyze liability damages records and evidence.
• Take and defend depositions of parties witnesses experts corporate representatives and other key stakeholders.
• Attend hearings mediations settlement conferences pretrial conferences and other court proceedings.
• Develop litigation strategy evaluate exposure and provide practical recommendations to clients insurers and claim professionals.
• Assist with trial preparation including motions in limine witness preparation exhibit review jury instructions and trial strategy.
• Communicate directly with clients claim professionals opposing counsel attorneys and support staff.
• Handle challenging legal work with professionalism discretion strong judgment and increasing independence.

Qualifications

• Active license to practice law in Indiana.
• 2 years of civil litigation defense experience.
• Experience with insurance defense general liability medical malpractice defense construction defect transportation defense professional liability long-term care defense or related defense litigation.
• Experience drafting pleadings motions discovery legal memoranda case evaluations and client status reports.
• Experience taking or defending depositions.
• Experience attending hearings mediations settlement conferences or court appearances.
• Ability to communicate with insurance carriers claim professionals corporate clients or business clients.
• Strong legal research writing analytical and case management skills.
• Comfortable managing a litigation caseload with partner oversight.
• Proficient with Lexis Westlaw Microsoft Office and legal case/document management tools.
• Professional motivated detail-oriented and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
