The NDT X-Ray Technician is responsible for performing radiographic testing (RT) to evaluate aerospace castings for internal defects. This role ensures product quality by operating X-ray equipment preparing and positioning parts interpreting radiographic images and maintaining accurate inspection records.
Youll work in compliance with customer specifications regulatory requirements and NADCAP standards with opportunities to grow through a structured TraineeLevel 3 career path based on certification experience and technical expertise.

Radiographic Inspection Operations
Preparing and positioning castings for inspection
Operating X-ray equipment using approved techniques and safety procedures
Processing film or digital images and ensuring proper traceability
Documentation & Compliance
Interpreting technique cards specifications and procedures
Maintaining inspection records and lot traceability
Ensuring compliance with NAS 410 NADCAP and customer requirements
Equipment & Area Maintenance
Performing daily system checks and verifying equipment readiness
Maintaining calibration status of inspection equipment
Keeping the NDT area clean and organized (6S)
Quality & Productivity
Handling parts carefully to ensure protection and traceability
Meeting production goals cycle times and inspection throughput targets
Safety
Following all radiation safety and plant safety procedures
Identifying and reporting unsafe conditions

Level 1 NDT X-Ray Technician (Entry-Level)
Loads and exposes parts using X-ray equipment
Processes film or digital images
Performs basic visual inspection of radiographs
Maintains traceability and documentation
Performs machine setup and daily system checks
Meets production goals and maintains 6S standards
Certification Required: NAS 410 Level 1
Level 2 NDT X-Ray Technician
Interprets and evaluates radiographic images to accept/reject parts
Measures indications using comparators and tools
Marks parts and applies proper disposition codes
Establishes and adjusts X-ray techniques
Participates in audits and cross-trains in related inspection methods
Certification Required: NAS 410 Level 2
Level 3 NDT X-Ray Technician
Serves as technical authority for NDT operations
Develops and approves inspection techniques and procedures
Provides oversight for equipment personnel and compliance
Leads internal customer and NADCAP audits
Trains and certifies Level 1 and Level 2 technicians
Partners with Quality and Engineering on complex issues
Certification Required: NAS 410 Level 3
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand walk bend push and pull for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs (heavier with assistance)
Comfortable working in manufacturing environments (heat noise dust chemicals)
Repetitive motion required for handling and processing parts
Must meet visual acuity requirements for NDT certification
