Job Summary

Project Engineer (Construction Federal / Infrastructure) Location: Remote / Field Office Hybrid Industry: Heavy Civil Vertical Construction Federal Projects Role Overview

This role sits at the center of project execution bridging field operations project management subcontractors and clients. You ll drive technical coordination cost control and schedule performance across complex construction projects often in logistically challenging environments.

This is not a back-office role expect high field exposure real ownership and direct impact on project delivery.

What You ll Own Project Execution & Field Coordination
  • Partner with Project Manager to drive schedule cost quality and safety targets
  • Translate drawings/specs into actionable field plans
  • Support Superintendents with daily work planning labor tracking and progress monitoring
  • Conduct site visits to troubleshoot and provide technical direction
Contracts Commercial & Cost Control
  • Co-manage subcontracts vendors and supplier relationships
  • Evaluate bids perform scope leveling and subcontractor comparisons
  • Draft and manage:
    • Change Orders
    • RFIs / Serial Letters
    • Claims support documentation
  • Assist in dispute resolution and risk mitigation
  • Track project costs labor and materials vs budget
Planning Scheduling & Documentation
  • Actively manage CPM schedules (Primavera P6 / MS Project)
  • Maintain document control systems
  • Develop:
    • Submittal logs
    • Material tracking
    • Closeout documentation
  • Support bid phase activities:
    • Quantity takeoffs
    • Risk analysis
    • Proposal development
Technical & Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Interface with:
    • Architects / Engineers
    • Field teams
    • Equipment & procurement teams
  • Review and approve material submittals
  • Support equipment planning and rentals
  • Interpret multi-discipline systems (MEP structural civil)
Safety & Quality Leadership
  • Enforce zero-incident safety culture
  • Develop and maintain:
    • Site-Specific Safety Plans
    • Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
  • Ensure QA/QC compliance across all phases
What You Bring Core Requirements
  • Bachelor s in Engineering Construction Management or related
    (or equivalent field experience)
  • 4 7 years in construction with project coordination exposure
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Construction drawings & specs
    • Contracts & project lifecycle
Technical Skills
  • Scheduling: Primavera P6 / MS Project
  • Project Systems: ERP/Construction software (Vista preferred)
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office (Excel-heavy role)
Preferred (High-Value)
  • Federal project exposure (USACE highly valued)
  • Experience with:
    • CQC (Construction Quality Control)
    • RMS (Resident Management System)
  • Certifications:
    • Safety / Environmental (e.g. CESCL or equivalent)
