Job Title: Carbon Black Resident Engineer
Location: Remote
Duration: 06 Months
Employment Type: Contract
Pay Rate Range: $100 to $105
Position Overview:
Client is seeking a highly skilled Carbon Black Resident Engineer to serve as a dedicated embedded endpoint security subject matter expert. This individual will support a complex multi environment Carbon Black App Control deployment and partner closely with IT and security teams to stabilize current operations resolve legacy implementation issues and drive upgrade and modernization initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary subject matter expert for VMware Carbon Black App Control and related components
Assess and remediate historical configuration issues and accumulated technical debt
Provide hands on operational support including agent communication issues rule enforcement inconsistencies and console performance concerns
Lead and support critical SQL Server 2022 migration efforts related to Carbon Black infrastructure
Perform Windows Server operating system upgrades on Carbon Black App Control servers
Troubleshoot and resolve pre migration blockers including SQL role gaps compatibility issues and dependency challenges
Execute and guide end to end migration strategies across legacy and upgraded environments
Support multiple affiliate environments with a multi console architecture and replicate upgrade and migration activities across all environments
Ensure consistency in configuration policy performance and operational standards
Review and clean up trusted directories application control rules and policies
Design and implement optimized rule sets approval workflows and policy tuning
Support endpoint agent upgrades and ongoing agent lifecycle management
Troubleshoot deployment and communication issues across endpoint populations
Act as the escalation point for Carbon Black related issues and collaborate directly with vendor support
Validate upgrade migration approaches and provide clear execution recommendations
Assist with strategic initiatives including console consolidation and potential SaaS platform migration
Provide advisory and hands on support to operational technology environments including new environment stand ups policy creation and workflow design
Qualifications:
Strong hands on experience with VMware Carbon Black with emphasis on App Control
Hands on experience with SQL Server administration and migration projects
Experience performing Windows Server operating system upgrades and troubleshooting
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex multi environment security platforms
Experience managing endpoint agent deployment upgrades and health monitoring
Experience tuning security policies and application control rules
Tools and Technologies:
VMware Carbon Black App Control
SQL Server including migration and role configuration
Windows Server operating systems
Endpoint security agents and management consoles
