With 100 locations and over 400 OB/GYNs and specialists across the country Womens Care provides comprehensive patient care in obstetrics gynecology gynecologic oncology urogynecology gynecologic pathology breast surgery genetic counseling maternal fetal medicine laboratory services and fertility.
The Medical Technician / Technologist is responsible for performing moderate/high complexity clinical testing at our lab.
- Receive and accession specimens and determine acceptability.
- Reject specimens that do not meet laboratory acceptability criteria.
- Recognize when information presented on requisitions is unclear and ambiguous and follow corrective actions to be taken.
- Set up clean and maintain laboratory equipment according to established protocols.
- Perform all maintenance and quality control according to established protocols and ensure they are within acceptable parameters and troubleshoot analyzers when required.
- Analyze proficiency testing samples according to instructions and complete within the allowable time frame.
- Record analyze and interpret data and take pertinent corrective action when results are not within appropriate guidelines.
- Keep supplies fully stocked for the department and assist Supervisor with supply inventory.
- Utilize appropriate resources to answer inquiries for basic customer related issues.
- Understand and follow all company policy and procedures including those relating to safety and quality assurance.
- Responsible for the performance of patient clinical testing which includes pre-analytical analytical and post-analytical duties such as specimen processing test performance and reporting test results.
- Review pending and outstanding logs and resolve any outstanding workload.
- Maintain competency and rotate through the chemistry hematology and urinalysis section of the lab. Also maintain education and development appropriate for the position.
- Follow all established protocols and procedures for all testing platforms.
- Work in an organized manner and perform tasks according to the sections procedure manual to other personnel can follow workflow.
- Demonstrate responsibility and accountability in the performance of accurate and timely laboratory testing.
- Validate methods to meet client requirements as appropriate.
- Attend vendor or internal training for any new instruments.
- Support the department in achieving departmental and laboratory goals for service quality turn-around time regulatory compliance financial performance patient satisfaction healthy work environment and integration of intra and inter-departmental activities.
- Demonstrates and embodies the Womens Care mission and core values.
- Compliance with all HIPAA rules regulations and guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsQualifications:
- Bachelors degree in science or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of successful clinical laboratory experience.
- Florida License ASCP license preferred.
- Ability to use a computer and enter data efficiently including Microsoft office programs.
- Knowledge of Orchard laboratory information system preferred.
- Knowledge of eClinicalWorks EMR preferred.
- Ability to read interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals.
- Proficient in data entry and record keeping.
- Great attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task be self-motivated reliable accountable and conscientious.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess the ability to interact and communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of internal personnel providers personnel of outside organizations and patients and their family members.
- Must possess good organizational skills handle multiple tasks concurrently and be able to work effectively with all levels of aforementioned groups.
- Must be dependable reliable and punctual.
