Job Summary

REMARKS: The University of Rochester School of Nursing is seeking a faculty candidate for the Program Director for the Clinical Nurse Leader and Leadership in Healthcare Systems Programs. Candidates must have professional licensure and certification relevant professional leadership experience and experience with professional education education technology program development and project management. Candidates must have a record of scholarly work a commitment to interdisciplinary approaches and teaching experience. Rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience. Clinical faculty are eligible for promotion along the clinical track.

The School of Nursing offers nationally accredited baccalaureate masters and doctoral programs. One of a small number of nursing schools designated as an Apple Distinguished School and endorsed by the International Nursing Association for Clinical and Simulation Learning (INACSL) the University of Rochester School of Nursing prepares nurses to address healthcare challenges in the twenty-first century.

The Unification Model directs nursing education research and practice. Unification is a philosophical approach and an organizational structure that operationalizes the interdependence among education research and practice. Education empowers nurses with knowledge attitudes and skills for leadership in professional practice and research. Research develops nursing knowledge to strengthen education and promote evidence-based practice. The practice of nursing is care delivery that promotes continued excellence through the generation of new research questions and the enrichment of the educational experience. The ongoing interaction of education research and practice practice advances the discipline of nursing and the health of our nation.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Successful candidates will work with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Assistant Deans and faculty colleagues to design and sustain a curriculum that meets the program and student learning outcomes in compliance with CCNE accreditation standards while implementing best practices in education. Using a variety of teaching modalities (online face-to-face and hybrid) in various settings (didactic simulation lab and clinical) have experience and comfort with education technology and be willing to engage in innovation actively. The Program Director will create implement and evaluate curricular and co-curricular learning experiences that support student success within the Clinical Nurse Leader and leadership in healthcare systems programs. The CNL and LDR Program Director will serve as a leadership role model resource advisor and mentor for students and colleagues. As an active CNL/LDR faculty member the Program Director will engage in the continuous design evaluation and delivery of a synchronous and asynchronous education model that is first in class.

The Program Director provides operational and administrative oversight of the Clinical Nurse Leader and Leadership in Healthcare Systems programs. The Program Director provides leadership in developing program curricula providing faculty support and overseeing student admissions advisement and recruitment. The Program Director serves as faculty in the leadership programs at a rank of Assistant Professor or higher. In addition:

Assists the Associate Dean Academic Affairs Affairs with strategic planning for the education mission.

Collaborates with the program faculty in planning implementing and evaluating program-related initiatives including those related to curricular co-curricular admission student affairs advising program progression and enrollment initiatives.

Collaborates with program faculty to meet evolving health workforce needs.

Actively engages with practice partners and student preceptors to optimize student learning.

Plans and participates in program faculty meetings and committees as needed or selected.

Teaches or provides guest lectures across the School of Nursing baccalaureate and graduate programs.

Serves as a resource/advisor/mentor for CNL and LHCS students and meets with them individually or collectively each semester

Reviews program faculty performance annually. Oversees student advisement and academic remediation

Coordinates designated educational or student service program(s); ensure policies and guidelines are followed



REQUIREMENTS:

Doctoral degree current NYS RN licensure demonstrated record of clinical leadership experience demonstrated record of academic teaching and superior interpersonal skills with different levels of students. This critical academic leadership position assumes exemplary performance in the faculty role and serves as a role model for program faculty.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

CNL Certification prior clinical leadership experience prior teaching experience at the baccalaureate or graduate program level and experience in online learning are strongly preferred and experience with professional nursing education education technology program development and project management.
