JOB TITLE:Athletic Trainer
REPORTS TO:Director for Athletics Campus Principal

Qualifications:
Education/Certification (Required):
Bachelors Degree
Valid license from Texas
Dept of Licensing and Registration (TDLR)
CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor (preferred)
Experience:
Three years experience as an athletic trainer (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to provide injury prevention and rehabilitation services
- Ability to provide emergency care
- Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and ability to treat student athletes
- Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes and assistants
- Excellent organization communication and interpersonal skills
Function:
Provide quality emergency first-aid care education treatment and rehabilitation for the possible injured athlete. Carry out the necessary functions to attain quality care. Supervises programs and procedures in the London Independent School District for the care prevention and injuries involving athletics and/or participants. Provide direction to all Sports Medicine activities and personnel. Be responsible to the director for athletics for establishing and maintaining all aspects of a high quality Sports Medicine program.
MajorResponsibilities &Requirements:
- Adheres to the guidelines of Athletic Trainer protocol.
- Report each morning 45 minutes before school to offer evaluation and treatment of injuries.
- Supports and follows Board Policy Administrative Directives State Laws and Regulations.
- Cooperates with athletic director in enforcement of policies regulations and procedures.
- Prepares orders and follows a budget that is established according to guidelines.
- Coordinates and implements Emergency Action Plans for locations used by athletic teams.
- Notifies appropriate persons when an ambulance transports a student-athlete.
- Follows and implements guidelines established regarding the use of various modalities and therapeutic agents.
- Submits accurate travel requests for expenses for teams and/or continuing education travel by the individual athletic trainer.
- Coordinates CPR/AED/First Aid certification for coaches.
- Coordinates and compiles paperwork required of student athlete through Rank One.
- Coordinates insurance and files documents.
- Utilizes and files appropriate forms relating to all aspects of injury care.
- Submits accurate post-travel report forms.
- Keeps accurate and up to date training data on district software.
- Maintains confidentiality of medical information.
- Displays positive attitude towards athletes coaches parents administrators.
- Utilizes chain-of-command to address issues.
- Works cooperatively with physicians and others involved in the care of an athlete.
- Conducts a presentation to the campus coaches each year concerning athletic training program policies and procedures.
- Maintains a hygienic and organized work area.
- Has appropriate equipment and supplies accessible in athletic training room.
- Has appropriate equipment and supplies available on sideline/courtside.
- Arrives at venue at the minimum of 45 minutes.
- Coordinates student athletic trainers work schedule.
- Incorporates daily experience into an educational opportunity.
- Emphasizes academics.
- Assumes responsibility for well-being of all student athletes and athletic trainers under their supervision.
- Enforces standards of conduct and maintains order and control in the athletic training room.
- Inspects equipment and facilities utilized and reports maintenance needs.
- Ensures security of facilities and all athletic training equipment.
- Follows the appropriate injury care and procedures.
- Maintains composure when dealing with student athletes and parents.
- Evaluates and treats all athletes requesting care.
- Provides follow-up care and home injury care guidelines.
- Provides and supervises rehabilitation of injured athletes.
- Provides daily written exercise instructions and goals for injured athletes.
- Educates injured student athletes about re-injury prevention.
- Provides home instruction sheets for rehabilitation.
- Serves as a resource person for coaches on conditioning off-season diet etc.
- Shows initiative in recognizing need of job and suggest ways to improve efficiency and production.
- Provides leadership and participates actively in professional growth and development. Disseminates ideas and information to other professionals and uses evaluative information for improvement of performance.
- Applies knowledge of skills to develop and work with the athlete to achieve their individual potential.
- Performs all aspects of job related tasks.

- Travel with playoff teams
- All High School Home contests on campus
- High School home contests off campus
- Middle School football on campus
- District track and cross country meets

- Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Frequent district and statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours: occasional lifting and moving of heavy objects.
