This role is pivotal in the continued delivery of excellent service within the Stirling Castle Retail Team. You will lead the team within our Palace Gift Shop to promote our various products to our many visitors ensuring customer satisfaction and maximising income.

Key Responsibilities of this role
Main Duties
Assist Retail Manager to manage the Stirling Castle Retail Team by providing leadership motivation and direction to ensure that the site meets all its performance targets.
Motivate the team to promote our various products with focus on upselling and cross selling.
Liaise with other onsite teams including Conservation Group ASH Museum Learning Services and Benugo to ensure delivery of a first-class visitor experience.
Motivate the retail team to achieve and maintain continued high standards of customer service.
Work with colleagues in the HS Retail team regularly reviewing products to maximise sales at the site.
Ensure there is high standards of cleanliness merchandising and stock rotation within retail areas.
Ensure stock is managed in accordance with HES Stock Management Procedures.
Ensure that all cash credit and receipts are accounted for and reconciled at the end of the day in line with SC Cash Handling Procedures.
Work within our cash office on a regular basis ensuring all monies are banked and all paperwork processed.
Ensure all processes outlined in the HES Essential Practices booklet are followed.
Undertake all aspects of performance management including yearly reviews and attendance management.
Monitor staffing levels and priorities to ensure that all key areas of the retail department are delivered.
Monument Presentation
- Lead your team to ensure that Stirling Castle is properly presented to meet all our opening time commitments.
Report any maintenance or safety issues requiring attention to line manager and/or Duty Manager.
Management of Resources & Compliance
Ensure Fusion management system is kept up to date for your direct reports.
- Comply with all HR requirements including utilisation of the Fusion system to submit overtime/T&S claims to meet processing deadlines.
- Ensure annual leave special leave and attendance management is kept up to date for your direct reports.
- Support the management team in ensuring the site is properly resourced and assist with any recruitment as required.
Health and Safety
- Monitor and comply with all health and safety policies/procedures.
Be aware of all relevant risk assessments fire action plans evacuation procedures incident response guidelines and position of First Aid boxes ensuring that direct reports are kept up to date.
- Ensure the security of the site buildings and contents through following site-specific procedures and ensuring that the retail team follow these procedures.
Team Communication and Participation
Proactively communicate with colleagues locally and within HQ to ensure good team working consistency of service and delivery of objectives.
Ensure good levels of communication are maintained with your team delivering morning briefings and holding team meetings.
- Ensure all relevant training is completed by your team.

Essential:
Retail management experience.
Experience of leading a team in delivering high standards of customer service and achieving KPIs.
Excellent team working skills.
Experience dealing with cash credit transactions and end of day procedures.
Experience of using computerised systems.
