Job Summary
Reporting to the Director or Operations the Manager is responsible for providing leadership and guidance for MSPs Food & Nutrition Services and for the overall operational management of MSPs Food & Nutrition Programs (MSPs kitchen food bank food donations) serving MSPs clients. The Manager oversees day-to-day department operational and program activities supervision of staff and volunteers and compliance with all regulatory standards.
The Manager is also responsible for the selection training and development of staff monitoring program budgets compliance with all grant funded requirements leadership and management of MSPs food bank food donations and MSPs kitchen services.
- Manages day-to-day operations of the food program and provides leadership and direction in planning departmental activities. Manages and coordinates food and nutrition management activities which may include proving food to clients functions/events and MSPs food bank.
- Evaluates and recommends changes in techniques methods procedures products and equipment to ensure efficient operation within established budgetary guidelines.
- Oversees food production food donations and nutritional care to ensure a high standard of quality.
- Collaborates in implementation and maintenance of computerized menu management and food inventory system.
- Develops policies and procedures for production develops forecasting ordering and evaluation systems to assure smooth operation of the food and nutrition program.
- Assures sanitation standards comply with regulatory guidelines.
- Is familiar with Canadas Food Donor laws
- Develop structure policy and practice with food donations identifies the types of food to be donated; identifies partner organizations in the area with which to work; determine packaging storage and labelling requirements to ensure food safety determine how food will be transported to the Agency as well as pick-up frequency and quantities.
- Ensures proper labelling storage and accurate accounting of food items.
- Plan coordinate and direct food purchasing food donations and food planning.
- Clinical leadership in varied menu planning (nutritionally balanced and appetizing).
- Review menu plans and prepare projected cost and donation needs.
- Interpret recipes modified diet plans and portion control in accordance to clinical direction and Canadas Food Guide.
- Orient train and coach new team members on operational guidelines organizational policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in food service management Human Nutrition or related field preferred.
- Current membership in the Canadian Society Nutrition Management (CSNM)
- Manitoba Food Handler Certificate or equivalent.
- First Aid Certification.
- Clear Criminal Background Search Certificate & Vulnerable Sector Search Certificate and Clear Adult Abuse Registry Check as a condition of employment.
- Valid Drivers License

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Budget an ordering experience production and processing knowledge of raw materials production processes quality controls costs
- Knowledgeable in commercial food production techniques and equipment including food storage/handling techniques
- Knowledgeable in the application of the Food Donation & Civil Liability in Canada
- Knowledgeable in the use of applicable computer programs i.e.) Microsoft Excel Payworks.
- Administrative and management experience knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic thinking resource allocation human resources leadership and coordination of people resources
