Position Description
StFX is a top-ranking Canadian university and we are seeking an energetic and organized professional to fill the position of Electronic Resources Library Technician in the Library. The Electronic Resources Library Technician manages the librarys electronic collections including journals eBooks and digital media. Reporting to the Collections Librarian the role oversees ordering renewals access verification and invoicing using an ILS and vendor platforms. The position also supports print subscription acquisitions and coordinates budgeting for ongoing resources. Responsibilities include maintaining records reports and statistics and collaborating with colleagues and librarians to support effective workflows and informed purchasing and renewal decisions.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Coordinate renewals payments access and entitlements for electronic resources
- Track renewal schedules and incoming invoices
- Maintain and update electronic resource records in the ILS
- Manage vendor accounts pricing and licensing information
- Ensure seamless on- and off-campus access; troubleshoot access issues
- Analyze title lists monitor changes and recommend subscription adjustments
- Verify process and reconcile invoices and vendor statements
- Monitor budgets forecast subscription costs and prepare financial reports
- Process print subscriptions including ordering verification and issue resolution
- Maintain accurate records usage statistics and reports to support collection decisions
Qualifications/Skills:
- A degree or diploma (Library Technician Diploma) in a relevant area from a recognized university or college and/or equivalent experience
- Advanced computer skills particularly in Microsoft Office (in particular MS Excel Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail and aptitude for understanding budgets
- Excellent time management organizational skills and problem solving skills
- Strong ability to work with minimal supervision self-motivated and well organized
- The candidate must exhibit superior communication and interpersonal skills
