Job Title: Surgical Technologist (OR General Surgery)
Location: Falmouth MA 02540
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Rotating Days (7:15 AM 3:45 PM / 9:30 AM 6:00 PM)
Position Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to support surgical services in a fast-paced operating room environment. This role works under the direct supervision of the Surgeon and Registered Nurse to ensure safe efficient and high-quality patient care throughout surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the operating room ensuring all instruments equipment and sterile supplies are ready for procedures
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control and sterility standards (AORN guidelines)
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and sterile supplies
- Handle surgical instruments retractors sutures and assist with sponge/needle counts
- Prepare label and manage medications under RN and surgeon supervision
- Ensure proper handling labeling and transport of surgical specimens
- Assist with patient positioning transport and post-procedure transfers
- Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment including lights suction and sterilizers
- Support room turnover and restocking between procedures
- Collaborate with surgical team to ensure availability of case-specific equipment and instruments
- Participate in staff meetings training and continuous education
- Maintain patient privacy dignity and safety at all times
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (Civilian or Military)
- NBSTSA Certification (Required) must be active and maintained
- BLS Certification (Required)
- Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical procedures
- Orthopedic experience strongly preferred
- Ability to read write and communicate effectively in English
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
