Cleveland ClinicsOrthopaedic& Rheumatologic Institute offers expert diagnosis treatment and rehabilitation for adults and children with bone joint or connective tissue disorders. The Institute blends the strengths of Cleveland ClinicsOrthopaedicProgram and Rheumatology Program. Cleveland Clinic is recognized in the U.S. and throughout the world for itsexpertiseand care.

A caregiver in this positionworksvarying hours between 8:00am and 5:00pm. Hours will ultimately be based on facility needs and may include evening/weekend rotations.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide orassistwith patient care in an outpatient clinic under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP).
  • Complete the rooming process including vitals height weight intake questions documentation and reporting abnormal findings.
  • Collect patient specimens perform point of caretestingand prepare specimens for transport to the lab.
  • Prepare patients for andassistwith examstestsand procedures such as EKG Holter monitor application pulse oximetry hearing and vision screeningdisinfectionand sterilization.
  • Administer treatments as directed including the application of heat or cold simple sterile dressing changes and applying/removing castsbracesand splints.
  • Review printed instructions with patients.
  • Assistwith wound care.
  • Documentinthe electronic health record.
  • Assistwith setting up the clinic for daily operations in-baskets closure of care gapsmaintainingclean and orderly work areas and closing the clinic.
  • Stock supplies and linens.
  • Cleanmonitorexpirationdates and restock dressing supply carts check AED units and oxygen tanks and empty needle boxes usingappropriate safetymeasures.
  • Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • A high school diploma orGED.
  • Understanding ofhuman anatomy basic patient careactivitiesand math.
  • If not already obtained Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or the American Red Crossisrequiredwithin the new hire period.
  • One year of recent healthcare experience in a hospital or ambulatory homecare assisted living nursing home or long-term care setting.
  • Additionalformal training/education may substitute some orall ofthe required experience.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Proficiencyin the use ofan electronic medical record.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
  • Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
