SUMMARY:
The Career Services Associate Director will be responsible for supporting Career Services staff at the campus to effectively provide career services assistance to graduates and ensure accreditation goals for placement are met or exceeded. This person will also develop partnerships with employers and identify job openings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Monitor and track career services activities weekly activity reports and Career Services staff performance.
- Assist Managing Director at the campus with performance evaluations of Career Services staffs at the campus.
- Monitoring the progress of all Career Services goals and outcomes.
- Provide direction and motivation to all Career Services staffs.
- Perform Career Services audits.
- Assist with advisory board meeting.
- Develop and cultivate partnerships with prospective employers for placement volunteer and externship opportunities.
- Identifying positions for graduates who are harder to serve and who have been unable to secure employment with traditional Dorsey employers.
- Assist in training new Career Service coordinators.
- Track licensure and certification
- All other duties as assigned.
Graduate Responsibilities:
- Contact all graduates in the active cohort year at least twice weekly one of which should be in person or via telephone. Contact graduates returning for placement at least once every two weeks. All contacts and contact attempts must be documented in Campus Vue.
- Assist graduates with resumes on-line applications job search strategies interview coordination and any other issues related to each graduates job search.
- Provide graduates with job leads appropriate to their program of study; coordinate interviews for graduates with employers as requested by the employer.
- Ensure that placements are clearly related to the graduates program of study and that each placement will meet accreditation requirements.
- Assist graduates to resolve basic barriers to employment e.g. referrals to child care and transportation resources. Refer students with significant barriers to employment to the Managing Director for assistance.
Employer Responsibilities:
- Goal: 30-50 employer contacts per week.
- Actively contact employers to develop working relationships and identify current employment openings and refer qualified students to available job orders in a timely and professional manner. Record all contacts in the Campus Vue database.
- Ensure that job leads are regularly developed for graduates of all programs offered at the campus.
- Respond to job order specifications from employers following up with employers regarding outcomes and recording employers account record/job orders in the Campus Vue database in a timely and accurate manner.
- Facilitate employer on-site interviews and participate in Chamber of Commerce Meetings and other industry events to promote Dorseys graduates and Career Services.
- Conduct a minimum of two job fairs annually at the campus.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES:
- Must display exceptional verbal and written communication skills as well as active listening; ability to communicate well with staff students and employers.
- Must be reliable with strong time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.
- Must be well organized with ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Must be resourceful and able to problem solve.
- Must be able to work independently and cooperatively as a team.
- Must possess a positive attitude initiative and creativity; must be able to motivate staff.
- Must be proficient with basic office equipment computers and computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Local and in-State travel required (less than 50%).
- Will be required to work late and occasional weekends to support business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree required.
- Must have proven track record of effective leadership experience in career services or a related area.
- Career services or related experience preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to see talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit for extended periods of time; and have sufficient hand arm and finger dexterity to operate a phone computer keyboard and other office equipment.
