Cost and Value Engineer
Job Summary
Your Role
Were hiringa Cost and Value Engineer to lead design-to-cost sourcing and industrialisation for our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) products.
Youll pair deep technical insight with commercial and manufacturing knowhow to cut cost improve manufacturability lift supplier performance and help us scale production in a fast-moving startup.
This is a hands-on high-impact role in a fast-moving startup environment where youll challenge designs influence key decisions and implement practical improvements without compromising quality safety or reliability.
Your mission
- Value Engineering & Design Optimization: Drive cross-functional DFM/DFA and value engineering initiatives. Review designs technical drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to identify and execute opportunities for cost reduction complexity minimization and accurate cost estimation.
- RFQ Management: Lead the end-to-end RFQ process for components assemblies and manufacturing services. Ensure clear specifications enable accurate supplier comparisons and establish dual-sourcing strategies for critical parts.
- Commercial Negotiation: Support high-stakes negotiations covering pricing lead times payment terms tooling investments and long-term framework agreements to optimize Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
- Supplier Performance & Quality: Partner with the Quality team to qualify suppliers track performance via clear KPIs and establish structured feedback loops.
- Industrialization & Scalability: Partner with Engineering Team and Suppliers to continuously optimize manufacturing and assembly processes ensuring scalability and consistent quality.
Your profile
- Education: Technician certification. Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Electrical Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience: 10 years of total professional experience with at least 5 years specializing in technical buying.
- Technical & Manufacturing Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience with electromechanical systems (wire harnesses battery modules connectors PCBA) and industrial processes (sheet-metal welding machining cabinet assembly thermal systems).
- Procurement & Design Literacy: Proven track record in cost analysis and cost reduction activities. Fluent in reading/challenging technical drawings CAD documentation specifications and BOMs.
- Methodology & Change Management: Experience applying design-to-cost DFM/DFA and value-engineering principles within dynamic production environments.
Languages: English (required) German (B2) or Italian/Chinese is a plus
Travelling time: at least 25%
