Job Description (JD) Requirements
Work within a metallurgical laboratory team assuring quality of mining and construction equipment and components
Perform hands-on engineering role supporting industrial part production and processes
Conduct failure analysis of parts returned from customers
Qualify parts based on metallurgical specifications and requirements
Support process engineering design manufacturing and quality teams on root cause corrective actions
Work in an ISO accredited certified quality environment
Get trained and certified in ASTM specifications and methods
Help maintain the labs ISO 17025 A2LA accreditation
Perform metallography microscopy fractography non-destructive evaluation SEM/EDS analysis mechanical testing (tensile/Charpy) hardness testing and other destructive testing
Work within Failure Analysis & Met Lab groups
Interact with Failure Analysis team NDE management team AMT Laboratory team Chemical team Caterpillar Decatur quality team external suppliers and customers
Work in a steady mix of shop lab and office/desk environments
