Your role and responsibilities
As Technical Support Team Leader you will play a pivotal role in keeping the service running smoothly by leading and supporting a dedicated team of four Technical Support Officers. You will organise and balance daily workloads ensuring priorities are met while maintaining consistently high standards of service. A key focus of the role is developing and refining effective systems and processes that improve team performance and support the wider objectives of the service.
Working closely with the Highways Developer Funds Support Manager you will provide essential support in the management of developer fees and contributions as well as assisting budget holders to monitor and manage budgets using Oracle. You will oversee the ordering of works and the administration of associated claims supervise the Development Management website and manage the pre-application advice service in partnership with Local Planning Authorities. Through strong leadership sound organisation and proactive problem-solving you will help ensure that technical financial and administrative support underpins the effective delivery of highways and development services across Suffolk.

The team
The Technical Support team supports the wider Transport Strategy team part of the Strategic Development division helping to deliver growth in Suffolk. The team is responsible for:
- The issue coordination and management of highway permits and road space booking processes across the county network. The role involves regular communication with multiple stakeholders ensuring systems and records are accurately maintained to support the safe and efficient operation of the highway network under strict time pressures including sole responsibility for processing associated road space booking payments.
- Providing technical support for customer records and enquiries interpreting information resolving discrepancies and using judgement to ensure issues are progressed correctly and allocated to the appropriate team.
- Manage and process agreements and licensing applications including S278 S38 agreements and Minor Works Licences managing the associated payment processes.
- Undertake the processing of planning consultations and pre-applications.
- Support the Floods team by processing planning consultations and applications.
- Administer a wide range of financial processes across the department including purchase orders invoicing receipting refunds and journal transfers.
This role supports hybrid working a broadly even balance between working from home and working from Endeavour House Ipswich.
