Head Start Operations Manager

Family and Early Childhood Education programs

Pay rate: $65000 - $70000 annually

The Opportunity Alliance is looking to fill our Head Start Operations Manager position specifically supporting our Early Head Start and Head Start programs.

The Head Start Operations Manager will be responsible for designing and implementing organizational systems and tools that support the daily operations of Head Start and Early Head Start programming. The Head Start Operations Manager will guide teams that inform program management & design as well as monitoring & improvement. This position will also work closely with the Director in the areas of reporting and contract & fiscal management. Work hours must be flexible. Some evening and weekend hours travel and occasional overnight travel will be necessary.

Schedule: Full-time 40 hours per week salaried position.

Primarily Mon. evening hours may be necessary.

Location: Office will be located in South Portland but may have the need to travel between site locations in Cumberland County.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma plus 5 plus years of experience in an early childhood program required. A Bachelors degree in nonprofit management or social services related field preferred. Head Start experience is strongly preferred.
  • 5-7 years of direct supervisory experience required.
  • Experience designing and facilitating large and small format training.
  • Experience in human services program management including program planning operations and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with complex information.
  • Demonstrated ability to practice sound decision-making & good judgment under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with teams.
  • Commitment to social justice and the mission of Head Start.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background child protective service check & sex offender check.
  • Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
  • Employee must be able to pass pre-employment physical and TB screen.
  • Must be current on MMR and TDAP immunizations.
  • Must be able to exert significant physical effort with frequent standing walking reaching stooping bending kneeling crouching typing and frequently lift and carry small children or material weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings but is not a primary and essential job responsibility.
