Job Title: Quality Control Manager
Reporting To: Head of Technical
Job Purpose:
To ensure the consistent quality and safety of all fresh produce received stored packed and dispatched by overseeing and managing all quality control processes. This role ensures that all products meet company customer and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the quality control team.
- Train staff on quality standards processes and product specifications.
- Implement and monitor quality control systems and procedures.
- Oversee daily quality checks of inbound and outbound produce.
- Ensure produce meets quality specifications and compliance requirements (customer retailer and legislative standards).
- Work closely with procurement production warehouse and commercial teams and sometimes with suppliers to resolve issues.
Education & Experience:
- Degree or diploma in Food Science Agriculture or related field (preferred)
- 10 years experience in a similar quality control role within fresh produce or food manufacturing.
- 5 years in team management
- Haccp level 3
- Lead auditor qualification is benefit but not essential
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of fresh produce quality standards shelf life and handling practices.
- Knowledge of food safety systems (HACCP BRC or similar).
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with UK retailers and their quality standards.
