About the role: An exciting and unique opportunity exists for an experienced Civil Engineer to join the Reliability and Performance team within the supporting one of Australias most critical heavyhaul rail networks.

This role is ideal for a motivated Civil Engineer with strong rail experience who enjoys translating engineering insight into practical datadriven improvements across complex infrastructure systems.

  • Take clear accountability for civil reliability and performance outcomes preventing and mitigating asset failures by ensuring the right work is delivered at the right time.
  • Apply field insight data and engineering judgement to reduce repeat and systemic failures across Civil Assets.
  • Proactively identify assess and manage asset condition and risk including assets operating outside standard limits translating trends into decisive engineering actions.
  • Lead and contribute to RCA FMECA and deepdiveNetwork Asset Management teamtechnical investigations targeting the highestimpact failure mechanisms and interventions.
  • Support emergency response and unplanned events providing sound timely engineering judgement to restore safe and reliable operations.
  • Influence renewals and capital program priorities ensuring engineering effort and investment are aligned to risk performance commercial impact and longterm sustainability.

About you:

You bring both leadership and engineering experience with strong capability across infrastructure operations including design construction maintenance and safety. You have proven experience preparing and reviewing written technical reports and possess indepth knowledge of civil engineering standards specifications and best practice. You demonstrate a high level of skill in ensuring compliance with legislation regulatory requirements and safety and environmental practices.

You bring fantastic interpersonal written and verbal communication skills with the ability to consult and negotiate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

You also offer sound business and commercial acumen along with the ability to review recommend and support innovative solutions that contribute to longterm infrastructure sustainability.

  • Bachelor level of Engineering specialising in Civil Engineering (essential)
  • Extensive experience in a Civil Engineering Role.
  • Registered professional engineer under the Professional Engineers Act of Queensland (RPEQ) or ability to obtain registration within 6 months.
  • Knowledge of Rail Track Infrastructure Grinding Lubrication and Wheel Rail Interface desirable.
