PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Network & Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the design implementation monitoring and maintenance of the districts technology infrastructure. This includes the districts local and wide area networks wired and wireless connectivity firewall and filtering systems and related infrastructure supporting instructional and operational technology across the district.
This position ensures reliable secure and scalable network services for staff and students while collaborating with technology staff district leadership and external vendors to support district technology initiatives and maintain a secure network environment. The Network & Infrastructure Engineer helps ensure the reliable delivery of digital learning systems and services that support teaching learning and district operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensures the network infrastructure reliably supports digital learning platforms instructional resources and classroom technology.
- Maintains stable and high-performing network services that enable district systems and staff to function efficiently.
- Supports network security systems that help protect district data users and infrastructure from cyber threats.
- Assists with long-term planning and implementation of scalable infrastructure that supports future district technology initiatives.
- Design implement manage and maintain the districts local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) infrastructure.
- Configure and maintain network equipment including switches routers and wireless access points.
- Manage and support the districts Cisco IOS and Cisco Meraki network environments.
- Monitor network performance and reliability and proactively identify and resolve issues affecting connectivity and system performance.
- Maintain core network services including DHCP DNS TCP/IP protocols and VLAN configuration.
- Ensure proper network documentation configuration management and operational continuity.
- Utilize network monitoring and management tools to observe system performance identify anomalies and respond to service interruptions.
- Analyze network traffic patterns and performance metrics to maintain optimal network health.
- Configure alerting and monitoring systems to detect outages degraded performance or potential infrastructure issues.
- Administer and maintain the districts Cisco Secure Firewall infrastructure including NAT rules VPN connectivity scalability and network security policies.
- Manage and maintain the districts Linewize web filtering system and related content filtering controls.
- Assist in maintaining secure network segmentation and access controls.
- Collaborate with district technology leadership to implement and maintain network security best practices.
- Assist in monitoring network activity and investigating potential security events affecting network infrastructure.
- Research evaluate and recommend standard technology infrastructure solutions including networking computing and security systems.
- Assist with planning specifications and deployment of district technology infrastructure including network equipment and network-connected systems such as cameras access control intercoms classroom amplification and audio/visual technologies.
- Participate in technology infrastructure upgrades and district technology initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation of network infrastructure including IP address allocations network device inventories system configurations and infrastructure diagrams.
- Ensure network equipment and infrastructure components are properly labeled and documented to support system maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Maintain shared records of infrastructure assets such as switches wireless access points cameras and other network-connected systems.
- Proactively update documentation and records when infrastructure changes are implemented to support operational continuity and reduce the risk of service disruption.
- Diagnose and resolve network infrastructure issues affecting district systems and devices.
- Respond to and resolve support requests related to network connectivity and infrastructure services.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to other technology staff when troubleshooting network-related issues.
- Work with vendors and service providers to support and maintain district infrastructure systems.
- Open and manage vendor support cases as needed and coordinate resolution of service issues or outages.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology Network Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five (5) years experience supporting enterprise or large organizational network infrastructure.
- Demonstrated knowledge of:
- TCP/IP networking
- Routing and switching
- Wireless networking technologies
- Network troubleshooting and monitoring tools
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience managing Cisco networking technologies (Cisco IOS and Cisco Meraki).
- Experience administering Cisco firewalls or comparable enterprise firewall systems.
- Experience with web filtering platforms such as Linewize or similar solutions.
- Experience supporting K-12 or public sector technology environments.
- Knowledge of E-Rate technology funding programs.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA CCNP CompTIA Network or equivalent.

- Demonstrates the ability to maintain stable and high-performing network systems through proactive monitoring troubleshooting and system optimization.
- Applies network security best practices to protect district systems data and users while supporting district cybersecurity initiatives.
