Job Summary

Position Overview:

The Chief Fixed Income Officer is responsible for leading the organizations fixed income investment and trading activities including government bonds corporate bonds credit products and interest rate derivatives. The CFIO will drive portfolio performance manage interest rate and credit risks and develop strategies to deliver strong risk-adjusted returns. This role requires deep expertise in fixed income markets macroeconomic trends and portfolio management.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Fixed Income Strategy & Asset Allocation

  • Develop and execute fixed income investment strategies aligned with overall portfolio objectives.
  • Determine asset allocation across government securities corporate bonds credit instruments and structured products.
  • Monitor macroeconomic indicators (interest rates inflation monetary policy) to guide investment decisions.

2. Portfolio Management & Performance

  • Oversee fixed income portfolios to ensure optimal performance and diversification.
  • Evaluate returns against benchmarks and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Manage duration yield curve positioning and credit exposure.

3. Credit & Interest Rate Risk Management

  • Assess and manage credit risk across bond portfolios.
  • Monitor interest rate risk liquidity risk and market volatility.
  • Establish risk limits and ensure adherence to risk management frameworks.

4. Trading & Market Execution

  • Oversee execution of fixed income trades to ensure best pricing and efficiency.
  • Manage relationships with brokers dealers and counterparties.
  • Optimize trading strategies in response to market conditions.

5. Research & Market Insights

  • Lead research on fixed income markets credit analysis and economic trends.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership and investment committees.
  • Stay updated on global market developments and regulatory changes.

6. Product Development & Innovation

  • Develop new fixed income products and strategies for clients or internal portfolios.
  • Explore opportunities in structured products credit derivatives and alternative fixed income investments.
  • Collaborate with other teams to enhance product offerings.

7. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure all fixed income activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Coordinate with compliance and risk teams to maintain governance standards.
  • Maintain proper documentation and reporting practices.

8. Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and mentor portfolio managers analysts and traders in the fixed income team.
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on analytical rigor and market expertise.
  • Drive continuous learning and professional development.

9. Reporting & Performance Monitoring

  • Track portfolio performance yield metrics and risk indicators.
  • Provide regular reports and insights to executive leadership and stakeholders.
  • Use analytics to enhance decision-making and strategy refinement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance Economics Business or related field; MBA CFA or equivalent preferred.
  • 1215 years of experience in fixed income portfolio management trading or credit analysis.
  • Proven track record of managing fixed income portfolios and delivering strong returns.
  • Deep understanding of bond markets interest rate dynamics and credit risk.
