Job Title: Laboratory Technician - Construction
Location: Northbrook IL (Onsite)
Position Type: Contract (W-2) May - October 2026 with Potential Extension or Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: MondayFriday 6:30 AM 3:00 PM 40 hours/week
Overview:
Put your construction skills to work in a high-tech clean climate-controlled lab environment where your hands-on builds directly support product safety for millions of users. This role sits within a Built Environment team and focuses on constructing real-world mock environments to test and validate product performance and safety standards. Youll collaborate with a tenured close-knit team while gaining exposure to testing technologies and engineering processes.
What You Bring (Ideal Experience):
Hands-on construction experience (carpentry concrete work general building techniques)
Ability to frame steel stud walls hang drywall and operate tools such as impact and rotary drills
Strong understanding of construction principles and safety practices
Comfort working in a dynamic lab setting with changing daily tasks
Ability to collaborate respectfully with experienced team members and demonstrate willingness to learn
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Preferred:
Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
Experience operating forklifts overhead cranes or other powered industrial equipment
Exposure to lab or testing environments
What Youll Do:
Set up and execute test equipment and test environments for product evaluations
Construct and modify mock environments (e.g. wall assemblies) to simulate real-world conditions
Read and interpret blueprints schematics wiring diagrams and test instructions
Follow defined test plans and accurately record results and observations
Evaluate test performance and assist in determining outcomes
Prepare test reports and maintain documentation using standard forms and systems
Operate lab equipment and perform routine maintenance and basic calibration
Collaborate with engineers and technical teams to support testing and improvements
Communicate with internal teams and occasionally with customers during test setups
Support continuous improvement efforts by recommending process or equipment enhancements
Compensation Information
The expected salary range for this position is $23.50 - $27.50 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. TalentFish is committed to pay transparency and equal opportunity. The salary range provided is in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
