The Product Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing best practices within designated process areas while driving process control strategies to reduce variation lower cost and improve throughput. This role relies heavily on structured problem-solving data analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement process control strategies to improve yield reduce rework and enhance overall product quality
- Identify and define technical problems perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions using structured methods (PDCA Six Sigma)
- Analyze data and apply statistical methods to support decision-making and process improvements
- Review and approve process inputs required to meet metallurgical property requirements including gating methodology heat treatment parameters and sand mold attributes
- Coordinate technical input across foundry tool shop and machining teams for new product development
- Provide technical support to Production Supervisors for casting operations
- Support Sales Customer Service and Quality teams in customer-facing technical discussions related to casting design and manufacturing methods
- Investigate process issues implement corrective actions validate effectiveness and document changes
- Participate in and occasionally lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering required (Materials Science or related field preferred)
- 23 years of experience in Product or Process Engineering
- CAD experience required (SolidWorks preferred)
- Strong understanding of statistical analysis data evaluation and experimentation techniques
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with solid mathematical ability
- Excellent written verbal and presentation communication skills
- Ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization and interact directly with customers

- Communicates clearly with coworkers supervisors and leadership
- Willingness to obtain additional certifications (e.g. GD&T) as needed for development
