The Product Engineer plays a key role in driving process consistency product quality and manufacturing efficiency. This position focuses on implementing best practices reducing variation and improving throughput through structured problem-solving and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Process & Product Optimization
- Develop and implement process control strategies to reduce variation improve yield and lower cost
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as PDCA and Six Sigma
Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis
- Identify and define technical problems impacting quality yield and rework
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Validate effectiveness of solutions and document changes
Technical Oversight
- Review and approve process inputs required to meet metallurgical property requirements including:
- Gating methodology
- Heat treatment parameters
- Sand mold attributes
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Manage and coordinate technical input across foundry tooling and machining teams for new product development
- Collaborate with production quality and engineering teams to support manufacturing processes
Customer & Internal Support
- Support Sales Customer Service and Quality teams in customer interactions related to casting design and manufacturing methods
- Provide technical guidance to Production Supervisors
Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Apply statistical analysis and experimentation techniques to improve processes
- Participate in or lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering required (Materials Science or related field preferred)
- 23 years of experience in Product or Process Engineering
- CAD experience required (SolidWorks preferred)
- Strong understanding of:
- Statistical analysis and data evaluation
- Process improvement methodologies
- Excellent written verbal and presentation communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Ability to work cross-functionally and interact directly with customers
Additional Expectations
- Effective collaboration across all levels of the organization
- Clear communication with peers supervisors and leadership
- Willingness to obtain additional certifications (e.g. GD&T) as needed
Compensation
- Salary Range: $100000 $160000 annually
