About the role

The Population Health Analyst sits within the Insight Performance and Digital Services (IPDS) Business Unit and reports to the Analytics and Insights Manager.

Core to the Population Health Analyst role is analysing and drawing out insights into the needs of communities. This requires a conceptual understanding of available data capabilities in research and analysis techniques and knowing what the data can and cannot tell us. Translating and conveying this understanding is crucial for guiding decision making improving processes and focused reporting.

This role integrates quantitative data qualitative insights and stakeholder input to support needs assessment planning commissioning and evaluation. It requires strong analytical and stakeholder engagement skills to interpret data in context and translate it into clear actionable insights. Youll contribute to ongoing population health analysis working across teams and stakeholders to ensure insights are practical accurate and inform decision-making.

A typical week may include:

  • Collating interpreting and analysing population and epidemiological data to inform needs assessment priority setting planning service improvement and evaluation.
  • Applying judgement to assess data suitability limitations and what can reasonably be concluded.
  • Working with other teams to identify current and emerging health needs and service gaps
  • Communicating population health data clearly translating complex information into actionable insights for diverse audiences.
  • Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships across health academic and government sectors contributing to consultation and co-design.
  • Strengthening organisational capability to use data and evidence in planning and commissioning through applied real-world interpretation.

About you:

  • Graduate qualifications public health epidemiology health sciences data analytics social sciences or a related field or an equivalent combination of relevant experience training and/or professional accreditation.
  • Experience analysing and interpreting quantitative data ideally from large or complex datasets with strong judgement around data limitations
  • The ability to translate complex analysis into clear practical insights that inform decisions
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills including experience working collaboratively across teams and with external partners
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to and where needed coordinate pieces of complex work involving multiple stakeholders competing priorities and real-world constraints.
