Position Overview The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential support within a behavioral health setting working under the supervision of licensed nursing staff to deliver safe compassionate and patient-centered care. This role may also include continuous patient observation (sitter responsibilities) to ensure patient safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver direct patient care under the direction of licensed nursing personnel
Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing dressing grooming and feeding
Observe monitor and promptly report changes in patient behavior condition or vital signs
Maintain a safe structured and therapeutic environment for behavioral health patients
Perform continuous observation/sitter duties for high-risk patients as assigned
Support de-escalation techniques and adhere to behavioral health safety protocols
Accurately document patient care activities in a timely manner
Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
Required Qualifications
Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
Minimum of 1 year CNA experience preferred (behavioral health experience strongly preferred)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle challenging behaviors with professionalism empathy and composure
