ScottishPower is seeking a Security Operations Analyst to join our Cyber Fusion Centre at our Glasgow HQ. The position operates as part of a global team and occasional travel to Spain or other company locations may be required. Due to the sensitive nature of the role successful candidates will need to be eligible for NSV SC clearance which requires continuous UK residency for the past five years.
What youll be doing
In this role youll play a key part in protecting our organisation customers and critical services by supporting the UK CSIRT. Working within a global cyber security function youll help deliver a wide range of security capabilities including incident response threat intelligence vulnerability management security monitoring digital forensics and threat hunting.
As a Security Operations Analyst you will coordinate and execute cyber security incident response processes working closely with colleagues across local and international teams. Youll be involved in creating testing and embedding new security processes and services ensuring ScottishPower can quickly detect and respond to cyber threats while minimising business and customer impact. Day to day youll monitor and analyse threat data manage incidents from identification through to recovery and lessons learned and ensure responses align with best-practice playbooks and industry standards.
Youll also support the wider Cyber Fusion Centre by helping define build and maintain the tools and technologies used by the CSIRT taking ownership of effective support models across the security toolset. Collaboration is central to the role including working closely with IT and operational technology security teams to deliver an integrated IT/OT security strategy across the business.
What youll bring
This role would suit someone with experience in an IT security or technical environment and a solid understanding of areas such as network and data security incident and problem management access control and cryptography. A good grasp of cyber threat actors attack methods and vectors is important as is an understanding of core networking concepts operating systems and security controls such as SIEM IDS/IPS firewalls and endpoint protection. Scripting knowledge in languages such as Python Bash or PowerShell is advantageous as are relevant industry certifications or a degree in cyber security. Strong stakeholder skills discretion and integrity are essential given the nature of the work and the audiences youll engage with.
