  • Responsible for being fully knowledgeable in reading math science and social studies.

  • Administers pre-tests at the various probation department sites.

  • Works directly with students that are identified to be in need of remedial work to prepare them for the GED Exam. Provides individual instruction and tutoring as needed.

  • Provides weekly progress reports to probation staff indicating progress.

  • Assists with various job skills and introduction to higher education instruction as needed.

  • Assisting and preparing for annual GED graduation.

  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma/GED; Bachelors degree in an education or related field preferred.

  • One-year practical experience in classroom teaching.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with education representatives in the community program participants various volunteers and other department employees.

  • Ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.

  • Minimum 21 years of age.

SALARY: Part-Time $33.42 per hour approximately 28 hours per week

SCHEDULE: Monday - Thursday class hours are 8:30am - 12:30pm
CLOSING DATE: Upon Filling Position

For certain positions requiring certification state standards shall disqualify an applicant if their criminal history reveals:


1) A felony conviction against the laws of this state another state or the United States within the past 10 years; a deferred adjudication for a felony against the laws of this state another state or the United States within the past 10 years or current felony probation or parole.


2) A jailable misdemeanor conviction against the laws of this state another state or the United States within the past 5 years; a deferred adjudication for a jailable misdemeanor against the laws of this state another state or the United States within the past 5 years or current misdemeanor probation or parole.

3)Registered as a sex offender under Chapter 62 Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.
