Putnam Avenue Upper School Community:
The Putnam Avenue Upper School is an innovative public middle school in the Cambridge Public Schools. We are looking for a dynamic committed educator with solid content and pedagogical knowledge solid classroom management skills a deep commitment to social justice and experience working in urban schools.
We are actively working towards becoming an antiracist school and are taking steps towards identifying and dismantling racist structures hearing and elevating underrepresented voices and striving to achieve an equitable and just educational experience for all students.
The Opportunity:
The Building Substitute teacher will be responsible for taking over the classroom instructional duties as well as specialist classes. Additionally the Substitute Teacher may be required to provide instructional support for students with disabilities in accordance with their IEP. The Substitute Teacher should be able to develop some lessons be willing to use assistive technology and work in a team teaching environment. The Building Substitute Teacher will keep appropriate classroom records provide a safe nurturing environment for students and establish clear expectations for behavior and learning.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors Degree or higher required. Teaching experience in an urban setting with multicultural student populations. Good collaborative skills for working with collaborating teachers staff and parents.
