Technical Writer API & Developer Docs $700$1100 USD/month Fully Remote
Location: Fully remote you can be based anywhere in the world
Hours: Flexible async-friendly with some overlap with UK GMT for team standups
Salary: $700$1100 USD/month
Contract: Full-time permanent
About the company
Remote World is partnering with a UK-based developer tools company to hire for this role. They build infrastructure tooling used by engineering teams at over 3000 companies and their API documentation is the front door for every new integration partner.
The role
Youll write and maintain the API reference documentation integration guides and code tutorials that help developers build on the platform. Youll work closely with backend engineers to turn complex technical specs into documentation that developers actually enjoy using.
What youll do
- Write and maintain REST API reference documentation and changelogs
- Create integration guides quickstarts and code examples (Python JS cURL)
- Work with engineers to document new endpoints as theyre shipped
- Review existing docs for accuracy consistency and developer experience
- Gather feedback from developer support to identify and close documentation gaps
What youll need
- Strong written English with the ability to write for a technical audience
- Comfortable reading and understanding API specs JSON and code samples
- Detail-oriented you catch inconsistencies and broken examples before developers do
- Experience working with or alongside software engineers
Nice to have
- Experience with OpenAPI / Swagger or similar API documentation tools
- Ability to write or adapt basic code samples in Python or JavaScript
- Familiarity with tools like Stoplight or Docusaurus
