Position Overview
The RN Charge Nurse at GDCP plays a key leadership role in overseeing daily clinical operations within the facility. This position is responsible for coordinating nursing staff ensuring quality patient care and maintaining compliance with clinical standards and contract requirements.
Working under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Health Services Administrator the Charge RN leads by example supports staff development and ensures efficient safe and consistent care delivery in a correctional healthcare setting.

Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate daily nursing operations within the assigned unit
Provide both direct and indirect patient care
Supervise and support nursing staff including LPNs and CNAs
Collaborate with medical mental health and administrative teams
Ensure compliance with clinical protocols policies and regulatory standards
Assist with scheduling staffing coverage and workflow management
Respond to clinical escalations and support critical decision-making
Promote a safe structured and professional care environment
Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
Minimum 4 years of RN experience required
Previous Charge Nurse ER corrections psych or med-surg experience preferred
Strong leadership communication and clinical decision-making skills
Ability to thrive in a structured fast-paced environment
