The School

The role is within our School of Applied Sciences and Technology. The departments within the School are located on our Grande Prairie campus. The School offers a variety of programminginScience Fine Arts Humanities and Social Sciences and Science. Through this programmingwe offer a variety of certificates diplomas university transfer coursesas well as a degree in computing science.

The Role

The Fine Arts Department requires a part-time sessional position to teach MU1010 Introduction to Music in the Fall (45 hours) and MU1021 Popular Music in the Twentieth Century in the Winter (45 hours) - subject to enrolment.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Masters Degree in Music. Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in music instruction previous teaching experience is an asset.
  • Deliver instruction using teaching strategies that will promote learning and stimulate interest in the discipline.
  • Use of adult education techniques and integrate appropriate educational technology to enhance the learner experience.
  • Prepare administer evaluate and rate tests and assignments providing the studentswith prompt feedback. Ensure that scheduled class commitments are met.
  • Maintain a presence in the place of work that is conducive to student consultation and developmental advising being available during and after scheduled class hours.
  • Evaluate student progress and achievement through use of valid and effective measurement and feedback methods and undertake responsibilities to provide a final assessment of students competence in the course.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook; knowledge of Matador and D2L are considered an asset;
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to build strong relationships across the organization;
  • A high level of integrity professionalism and accountability.
