JOB PURPOSE / DESCRIPTION:
We are hiring a Days Operations Manager to support the Senior Value Stream Manager in the day-to-day execution and performance of one or more manufacturing value streams.
The Days Operations Manager is responsible for planning leading and controlling activities across one or more value streams to ensure the consistent delivery of safe high quality and compliant products. This role ensures operations meet customer requirements achieve cost and efficiency targets and operate within a robust quality and governance framework.
Working in close partnership with the Senior Value Stream Manager the role is chiefly responsible for smooth day-to-day operation of the manufacturing Value Stream with a focus on detailed operational planning and configuration coordination of activities and output across shifts and analysing and reporting on Value Stream performance.
The role will support and develop teams proactively manage risks related to quality compliance and delivery and ensure timely data-driven decision making to support business goals.
This is intended as an individual contributor role with a tactical focus directly supporting a Senior Value Stream Manager. Depending on Value Stream needs however the role may involve direct people management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all manufacturing operations within the value streams comply with global corporate statutory and regulatory requirements including GMP EHS and quality standards.
- Develop and implement operations aligned with site and broader business objectives.
- Detailed operational planning and configuration coordination of activities and output across shifts analysing and reporting on Value Stream performance.
- Lead engage and develop teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement and a strong growth mindset.
- Continuously enhance communication channels to support alignment transparency and effective decision making.
- Drive and maintain a strong customer focus across all value stream activities.
- Reduce the cost of manufacturing year on year by actively promoting encouraging and implementing innovative solutions that maintain quality while improving efficiency and reducing lead times.
CUSTOMER FOCUS
- Improve and maintain customer focus within Value Stream.
- Prioritise production in line with customer service requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement
- Work with planning function to eliminate / minimise backorder and safety stock concerns.
- Act as the voice of the customer.
HSE
- Ensure HSE policies procedures and programs are implemented throughout the Value Stream and facility.
- Ensure all accidents incidents and near misses are thoroughly investigated and resultant actions complete in a timely manner.
- Foster HSE within the Value Stream.
- All employees are responsible for minimizing both the Environmental and Health & Safety effects of the work that they perform.
COST
- Hold people accountable for Value Stream results.
- Implement company business plan objectives within Value Stream.
- Strive to consistently exceed Value Stream results.
- Reduce cost of manufacture on a year-on-year basis.
- Efficiently handle variations in manufacturing demands.
- Develop and maintain an environment of continuous improvement.
QUALITY
- Ensure responsibilities under the Quality System are met.
- Ensure all manufacturing operations within the Value Stream conform to Quality requirements.
- Promote a quality-focused culture within the Value Stream team and ensure cGMPs are adhered to.
- Assume a lead role in conjunction with QA to eliminate repeat close calls and potential recalls.
- Establish world-class housekeeping standards within the value stream.
Scope / Decision Rights (typical): Leads day-to-day operations and improvement for an assigned area/value stream segment; approves routine operational decisions within established standards; co-owns longer-term strategy and major investment proposals with the Senior Value Stream Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelors in Engineering Business Science or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Min. 4 years leadership experience in a regulated manufacturing environment with a strong track record of delivery and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated people leadership experience including developing leaders performance management and leading through change.
- Strong working knowledge of GMP/Quality systems and EHS requirements in a manufacturing setting.
- Minimum of 8 years experience in manufacturing operations or supporting functions.
Desirable
- Experience in Healthcare/Medical Devices or similarly regulated manufacturing.
- Lean / Six Sigma / Process Excellence certification.
- Masters degree (e.g. MBA Engineering Management) and/or formal project management capability.
- Knowledge of capacity planning and production planning/scheduling.

- Operational Excellence: Strong experience in manufacturing environments with knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma and process optimisation.

- Quality and Compliance: Solid understanding of GMP EHS and regulatory standards with a strong quality mindset.
- Data & Problem Solving: Uses data and KPIs to drive performance identify issues and implement solutions.

- Customer focus: Drives delivery of high-quality products aligned to customer expectations.
- Continuous improvement: Promotes innovation and leads initiatives to improve efficiency cost and lead times.
