Job Summary
The salary for this position is: $5959 - 7926 monthly.
Thurston County is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to work independently as a Business Applications Technician II (BATII) within the Information Technology Department. This position is embedded in the Public Defense Department performing work on specific applications to support the departments goals objectives and other county operations. A BATII provides guidance to staff and troubleshoots problems related to specific applications.
Essential functions may include but are not limited to the following:
- Facilitates the departments production of data necessary to achieve broad department objectives; may include needs assessment of information needs analysis of workflow and evaluation of available software packages.
- Serves as primary liaison with outside consultants to seek solutions to problems plans technology installations and ensures compliance with countywide standards.
- Maximizes the departments use of software through designing spreadsheet and word processing macros; developing databases; downloading data from the mainframe and modifying software programs for specific department needs.
- Design or customize software (based upon established standards) to fit the needs of the County department or office overseeing the use and operation of the system.
- May perform other duties related to the specific business operation.
- Develops quality assurance and quality control procedures to assure integrity of the system and database.
- Develops training procedures for staff and users related to the hardware/software and database.
- May load specified software packages such as operating systems word processing or spreadsheet programs into department PCs; troubleshoots hardware problems prior to seeking outside support. Maintains inventory of software and hardware throughout the department.
- Responds to users inquiries concerning systems operations; diagnoses software and operator problems; seeks and implements solutions; replaces software packages.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Office Hours: Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Workload demands may occasionally require work outside the assigned work hours with supervisor approval. This position may have a hybrid/telework schedule available after a probationary period.
- Travel Requirements - Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings or trainings provide on-site support to staff and to transport equipment.
- Customer Interactions - Daily interactions via phone in-person teams and video with Thurston County staff and the public.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- AA degree in computer science or related field and two years of progressive responsibility with at least six months in a leadership capacity.
- Thorough knowledge of hardware including Mainframe and peripherals personal computers network servers communication devices printers plotters etc.
- Depending upon area of assignment knowledge and experience related to specific departments needs and have a clear knowledge and considerable background of the department served.
- Thorough knowledge of software including network and desktop operating systems office automation programming languages database products.
- Knowledge of pertinent local state and federal laws.
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures and to analyze complex problems.
- Ability to prioritize work meet deadlines and manage a database.
- Current Washington State Drivers License or have requested and obtained an appropriate accommodation.

- Strong technical skills knowledge and experience withcase management evidence management desktopapplications cloud environment ticketing and inventory systems
- Knowledge and skills with relational databases and scripting languages.
- Knowledge and skills with web publications and content management systems.
