The Research Grants Team work closely with the University of Edinburgh research and professional service communities partners and funders to maximize the research academic colleagues can undertake for the funding they expert team delivers financial management and post award administration of the Universitys 3500 research grants.
A key member of the Research Grants team the Deputy Research Finance Manager will contribute to building a strong supportive and effective will have a drive to get things done whilst challenging the status quo to help us develop new ways of working.
You will embrace the management of a team of staff in the post award administration of externally funded research projects to ensure appropriate financial controls compliance with sponsors regulations and Research Governance and Edinburgh Research Office Research Governance framework.
The successful candidate will:
- have experience of staff management within a deadline driven high volume financial administration function
- a strong financial management and accounting background with experience of working within a robust financial control environment
- be passionate about using finance as an enabler to support colleagues in their goals
be highly self-motivated and thrive in constantly changing environments

This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however we are open to considering flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.
