Job Summary

We would like to invite applications for the following 39 hour permanent role

Programme Assistant Driver

Supported Living Kilkenny

As a Programme Assistant Driver you will be responsible for the safe transportation of the members to and from places they need to attend. You will be expected toprovide personal and activity-based assistance to the members of the Supported LivingServicesin a way which enhances their independence dignity and self-esteem as members of the local community. For the successful implementation of this role there are several relationships which should be fostered and developed:primarily these will be with the members and their liaison isalsorequired with the ServicesCoordinator Service Support Officer colleaguesandvolunteersas well as themembersfamilies. Links will also be made with relevant voluntary and statutory agencies and educational institutes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To support individual members to maximise their potential using a person-centred approach.

Assisting members in all aspects of personal care and daily living as identified by them.

Supporting participation in social activities outside the home as identified by the members.

Supporting independent living skills training as identified by the person.

To be a key worker and advocate for the members.

Completing as required the normal range of duties associated with the upkeep of a residence.

Ensuring that your work and interaction with others is such that it promotes and enhances the independent living capacity of the people using the service.

To be available to work flexible hours i.e. mornings evenings overnights.

Implementing the action planning and reporting systems within the parameters set by the Service Co-ordinator.

Actively ensure that standards and practices regarding health and safety are fully adhered to in all areas of the service. Record and report any incidents/accidents to the Service Co-ordinator.

To work in a confidential manner respecting peoples right to privacy and your role in their home.

To comply with IWAs Parent and Ancillary Safety Statements and any legislative duties set out in current Health and Safety and Fire Safety Legislation

Ensure that your responsibilities to safeguard children and adults from abuse or harm is a core aspect of your role and that IWAs Safeguarding Policies and Procedures are adhered to.

Carry out other duties and/or responsibilities which may be assigned to you from time to time

Record and report any hazards accidents or potential incidents to the Service Coordinator/Service Support Officer

The use of clamping hoisting and lifting equipment are an essential part of this role


PERSON SPECIFICATION

Training Experience and Qualifications

A minimum of 5 completed modules of QQI level 5 (Major Award) Care Support or similar qualification is essential. QQI Major Awards that are deemed relevant to IWA are:

Community & Health Services(to include minor components Safety & Health at Work and Care Provision & Practice)

Health Service Skills(to include minor components in Workplace Statutory Policies & Procedures and Care Skills and Care Support)

Health Care Support(to include minor components Safety & Health at Work and Care Skills and Care Support)

Category B DrivingLicenceis required

A willingness to undertake the category D driving licence in the future is an advantage.

Knowledge and Skills

Strong computer and administration skillsan advantage

Previous experience of working with people with disabilities is desirable

Understanding of the social model of disability and the concepts of personcentredplanningan advantage

Understanding of independent livingis desirable

Demonstrate excellent communication skills with a good level of spoken and written English

Availability

This is a set roster that is implemented from the employees start date and it rolls on a 4-week basis.

Week 1 May include Days / Splits

Week 2 May include 2 long shifts and weekend on

Week 3 May include mornings or evenings

Week 4 May include nights (waking or sleepovers)

Salary range for this position is16.21 to 18.03 per hour (DOE)
